Usually I run Koptas in my Ork army since I don't have any buggies, but I'd like to give them a try. Is it better to run them in 3's or alone like Deffkoptas? Also, I figure I should keep them with a KFF unless it's better to have them skirt around my main force and take shots from the outside. Any advice?

I use a squadron of 3 buggies in combination with two deffkoptas in my army. They are very different in use, so keep in mind that they don't fulfill the same role as koptas. Buggies give you 3 twin-linked S8 shots at AP 3, lot sof movement blocking (three buggies turned sideways can block off a lot of table), and they're more survaivable then deffkoptas, even being AV10 open-topped. The damage charts see to that .

I use my buggies as harasses and movement blockers, since even a land raider ramming it needs a 4+ on the damage table, or it's stuck against a 35-point model. If my ,opponent ignores them, they pop off 3 S8 shots a turn, killing transports, devastators,... If he doesn't ignore them, they take a lot of killing, meaning the rest of my army can approach unscathed. One last tactic is to use them as a bubble wrap for your battlewagons, preventing deepstriking/podding meltaguns from destroying it and being able to keep up at 12"/turn.

Hope this helped!

A Squeaky Waaagh!!

Camkhieri: "And another very cool thing, my phones predictive text actually gave me chicken as an option after typing robot, how cool is that."'

Meercat: "All eyes turned to the horizon and beheld, in lonely and menacing grandeur, the silhouette of a single Grot robot chicken; a portent of evil days to come."

Take all 9. Hopefully you have tons of trukks and battlewagons and maybe 2 kffs.
You make your enemy choose between transports and your ranged antitank threat. Either way you will be happy

Though they will be your only ranged antitank so the should drive towards those pesky preds at the back which will take time to drive up to.

I rarely run a list either BW Rush or Kan Wall nowadays without taking at least 6 of these guys. (2,2,2) As was mentioned they make absolutely wonderful screening units especially for truks and battlewagons against melee forces. My main opponent relentlessly would destroy my wagons with his trygons for months until I started bringing the buggies and using them as a mobile wall to prevent charges on the bigger vehicles. They always move 6+ iches to be incredibly hard to hit in melee buying me a turn to get the transports into position. If he didn't destroy the buggies as well they there is a lot of accurate rokkit fire flying about.

Also the biggest thing that sold me to buggies vs chopptas is because they are vehicles you will never loose one to failed moral test! Too many times I've had a group of 3 choptas loose a guy then bail. Running them solo didn't sit well with me at least. Too easy a KP.

SHOOT EM! CHOP EM! If they still walkin' they probably cheatin'
