So okay, it's clear that the Codex SM get one, I know that, everybody know it, even the unborn (it's an universal law of the cosmos : each time a new edition of warhammer appear, C : SM get a new codex). But in your opinion, which army should just stay on the bench for the 6th edition? We know that in the 5th edition, not all of the armies of 4th edition received a new one, some were still good without it, other not. So in your opinion, who received enough attention in term of fluff and power and should let the chance to another army? Everyone opinion is welcomed. I'll start with my personnal opinion : Grey Knights. I think they received both enought attention for the fluff and gaming rules. For many of my friends, they are OP, to me they are correct (even thought I don't play them) and their codex is really a work of art. They really aren't in need, they are capable of handling almost any army on the table (even a little to much for some of my friends), and they have access to one of the finest armory I have seen. So what's your opinion? Note : Multiple vote is enabled for this poll.

Oh, and sorry if I mispelled some word, English is not my native language.

Nothing makes me happier then telling a Tau fanboy their army does not deserve any GW love... it makes them boil... and I love it.

but to be honest now, all should get one, its just what one should get last... IMO Guard. I love them the way they are now... and the longer I keep them the way they are now, the happier I will be.

BA, DE, GK, Necrons, SW and possibly IG. We know that at least GK and Necrons were written with 6th edition firmly in mind, with BA and DE both having the presence of fliers, which suggests they weren't totally out of the loop either. SW will probably still be a very powerful codex, and IG might be able to survive, but it's one i'm not completely sure of.

Vanilla SM need a new codex to bring them more in line with their Chapter codices, and BT/DA need the same. WH need a codex, i'm not convinced that the WD one is enough. CSM definately need re-doing, and Daemons too. Tau and Eldar are both old codices, with overpriced units and redundant equipment littering both of their books.

Orks were my only other 'maybe' alongside IG. I can see the positives and negatives of both, but IG probably need the re-do less than Orks.

EDIT: Forgot Tyranids (oh the irony!), who could use something along the lines of a re-redo.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Procrastinating.

Blood angels and possibly space puppies should not get updated with 6th( or at all), they're just too similar to codex: marines

I put BA and GK, because BA shouldn't have really gotten their own book, some of the stuff they can do is much better suited to normal marines (fluff wise, the Raven Guard do much of the BA assault type rules better than anyone else, but cant do them ruleswise, unless you take BA codex). And GK were just done.

The power armor books that "need" updating most are BT and CSM (sorry DA, you can get some characters in Vanilla marines, since that and robes is all that separates you from vanilla marines). I think that there needs to be quite a bit done with chaos marines, including new models. Personally, the standard marine helmet is out of proportion to the rest of them, especially when compared to loyal marine models.

Outside of the "bread and butter" of GW, Eldar definitely need a major overhaul (it would be cool if they got in a 6th ed. starter set so they get their update quickly)

Ohh, and I hope they do not put their codices in the same trend as the WHFB army books... hardback, thin books like that for some reason annoy me.

Blood Angels, Imperial Guard, Grey Knights, Dark Eldar, Space Wolves and Necrons are all so recent and generally solid that I don't see them getting updated this coming edition. Space Marines will definitely get updated, but I honestly don't want it to. I love the book as is. My one potentially out there choice for this is Orks. The codex is still good, and is full of flavor and competitive options. It's not perfect, but it's aged better than any other codex from 4th.

I feel every army should get an update during the life of 6th which will likely be 3-4 years.
Will that happen? Probably not due to GWs aweful release policy but handicapping an army just because it "got some lovin" recently is nonsnese.
Who knows how the game will have changed 3 years down the line.
Should your army which you've invested heavily in suffer?

I would also say the Tyranids because they've gotten a dex every edition of the game (only ones besides Space Marines to get that I think) but given their gameplay problems they need an reformation bad.

The ones that shouldn't get updated are Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Grey Knights - these Marine Codices got a lot of attention in 5th Ed, so they should get shelved for a few years now. In addition, none of these had a Codex update at all in 4th Ed (aside from Blood Angels' WD Codex), so it would be pretty silly if they get a new Codex before 7th Ed.

Dark Eldar and Necrons should also not get a new Codex for the simple reason that they were updated fairly recently and should be fine for the duration of 6th Ed.

Also, some Dexes that might get updated, but if they do it should be late in 6th Ed, include the Imperial Guard. Who knows, maybe they'll take a power hit in 6th.

I'd quite like to see them do the ultimate Codex: Space Marines, with rules and fluff for Codex chapters, and the Blood, Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves etc, etc. As well as Characters for each of the fluff chapters. Then its fair for every Space Marine player, whether grey, red, blue or purpley-green, and the chapters (even the out-there) ones are too similar to justify separate books.
