OK, It just seems that I cannot play Space Marines but I have invest "too" heavily in Space Wolves to just give them up. Especially since they are my only army were 100% of the models I own are fully painted and based etc.

I have tried drop pods which always 100% fail and I assume they do so with all marines when everything drops in by pod. I tried throwing power weapon small teams of the Grey Hunter guys into Razorbacks with las cannon and tons of Missile Launcher Long Fangs which help but this list was utter garbage and I still cannot win.

I tried full teams of GH with PF or PW and all the special weapon upgrades in Rhino with the most over powered forces of Wolf lords, JOTWW Priests and Wolf Guard I could take with several combinations of Dreads and Bjorn or vindicators and predators and even got myself a whirlwind.

I tried taking objectives and going for annihilation but nothing I seem to do works. My tanks get blown up and I do well up until my opponents turn 2 and than my whole army is either in trouble from where my models are on the table or all the plans I had made before the game had started. All the models and tanks etc. Are already blown off the table even when I take extra care to give them cover etc.

Basically..I need help. I cannot figure out how the hell puppies are played and how to build good lists for them that dominate. The only thing I have not tried is Logan with nothing but Termi's and I cannot afford all the models needed for it.

I know I gotta be playing them wrong but I dunno what to do.

It sounds like you just need more practice. Some of the builds you are mentioning are very good.

while long fangs force you into a statick position and grey hunter demands to be used agresivly they are two very good units.

Why do you usualy loose?

It sounds like youre having problems in unit lay-out. A space-wolf army if set out properly can take on ANY army. E.g. Vs Dark eldar take 3 rune p. and 2 double autocannon dreads. Grey knights - tons of plasma/melta, long fangs with rockets and plasma c. + razor backs etc.

Id say firstly you need to sort out each unit so it's effective for its point cost cost. I.e. long fangs should never have all las/plasma cannons, they're best set out with 4 rockets in each squad. Grey hunters are best either 5/6 in a razor back or 7/8 in a rhino, always with a wolf banner/melta/ wolf guard with power fist/ combi melta in large squads. Razorbacks can have either las/plas or assault cannon. You should have at least 2 of each one of these units in any army. 1 rune priest in a rhino with grey hunters is a must, and always give him living lighting. Wolfs scouts with a wolf guard pw/ combi melta are also good. Anything e;lse you want to add should depend on what army youre playing... against nids, replace meltaguns with flammers 2 typoon land speeders with heavy flamers - dakka pred and possibly twc.

To be honest the best thing to do is read your codex go on google. Type in 'space wolves blog'. Thats how i started out. Just look at the unit reviews/ battle reports and army lists on there as well as the comments and you'll be an expert in no time.

@ niiai

Seems most of the time I am loosing is that people always target my grey hunters and wipe them out without much problem. Even if they are in tanks etc.
I shoot and get into CC or I pile them out of a tank next to a unit and they "most of the time" just do not kill enough during their shooting phase.

I usually have 10 GH in a rhino and pile them out near a unit of enemies. Fire 7 bolters, 1 plasma pistol, 2 melta or sometimes plasma guns. To weaken the unit to where if they did shoot or assault I could still easily wipe them out.

But half the time I only kill under half of what I expect and they run over and use like three units shooting to wipe out my guys.

Last time I played against Necrons and lost to a minor victory.

Oh come on now. You're complaining that your GH unit can't wipe the enemy out in one volley.

And that the enemy then rolls up with 3 squads and focuses ALL of their firepower on your one squad. Which gets wiped out.

You need to LEARN from your enemy. When was the last time you rolled 3 GH squads up and focus fired a unit into the dirt? They are Space marines, not Supermen! You still need to use tactics!

Sooo you're getting out maneuvered?

Any idiot can write a hardass space wolf list- its so easy, children could do it. What you need to do is post up a battle report or two (or a few dozen) so we can actually get a grasp of how exactly your flailing so hard.

This is so important vs. the necrons you play against, just wipe out one squad at a time.

Call it Schadenfreude but I like that someone picks up what they hear is a competitive codex and can not autowin
My only advice is play.
It looks like you just lack experience.

The general advice is rush rhinos forward, keep long fangs back shooting.
Beyond that you need to know the units you are facing and what is the best particular way you have of defeating them. In the simplest form it is whether rapid fire bolters or krak missiles or frag missiles or meltas or a bit of cc is best and whether you'll die in the process.

You have only mentioned necrons. I am going to go out on a limb and say your best bet is either to stay back and make them come to you as you can out shoot them at range or rush them into cc. In a shoot out find out which is the one unit with range(destroy it first). In a cc melee find out which one unit of the necrons can beat you in cc(shoot them instead). In any case they have virtually no antitank threat, maybe just ask how to defeat scarabs and you'll be fine.
