I am really considering collecting this army list to have as a secondary army to run when i am a lil tired of the Dark Eldar. Every now and then one likes to mix things up. Lately i have been mixing things up with a Logan wing list but another friend of mine runs a almost identical Logan wing so pretty boring with that mirror matchup. This list however would be awesome to have.
There are two reasons behind the troop choice. I know that many run some assault marines combined with sanguinary guards since you need some kind of a hammer. I have always wanted to run all guards thou so its because of the fact that i need hammers and like the concept.
Anyway here is the list. You have probably all seen it before but i wouldnt mind discussing it and getting some tips.
Dante
librarian, jump pack, shield, lance
5 honor guards: 3 meltas, jump packs
2 sanguinary priests: LC, jump pack
5 sanguinary guards: PF, 2 x infernus pistol
5 sanguinary guards: PF, 2 x infernus pistol
5 sanguinary guards: PF, 2 x infernus pistol
5 vanguard veterans: 3 x LC, 4 x SS, glaive
5 vanguard veterans: 3 x LC, 4 x SS, glaive
2k
Lets discuss the list and come with some C&C.
Thanks.

I believe you are overpointed.
I think you really need a Power Fist in each Vanguard squad. Because of the Storm Shields, each one costs 340. You really do not want to be counter-charged by a Dreadnought, especially a Furioso or an Ironclad, which the squads currently can't scratch. Monstrous Creatures wouldn't be fun either.
Otherwise, the list is a pretty solid version of this sort of thing, which does have obvious weaknesses.

Hi.
Yeah a fist would have been nice but it is hard to find the points for it. I might look into it by dropping down something else. But the Vanguards should not be dropping in range of any dreadnoughts, if i drop there i am doing something terrible wrong i think.
The cost of the vanguard unit is 290 not 340.
Good point anyway, i'l give it some thought.

You are correct, I don't know what I was thinking re: Vanguard costs.
However, I do feel it's an issue that those squads can't handle Walkers. You don't have a ton of anti-vehicle shooting in this army, and I'm wondering how you would handle an army like mine, where I have 5 Las/Plas Razorbacks, 3 Baals, 3 Auto/Las Predators and 2 Furiosos.
Against you, I'd probably castle. You'd be able to take care of a few vehicles on the first turn you show up, but keeping the Vanguards away from the Furiosos means you keep them away from everything, so you'd be at a huge disadvantage. I'd of course be sure to move everything more than 6" per turn at first, so you will have a rough time hurting stuff in CC.

i tired the same list haha, and did not work at my gaming crowd, IG tank spam just wrecked me along with most other things, i find a similar list, with no sang guard and just combat squadded assault marine squads instead works much better. more marines for your money, and then you have more points for honor guard and melta.

Descent of Angels ( DoA) lists usually Deep Strike right on top of you using their Descent of Angels special rule (hence the name of the list), so range is never an issue they have to deal with. Having jump packs means they can even catch up with things that try and get away.

I think its quite weak to an inital shooting volley, hell I'd love to see any of those units land right next to acouple of 20+ Ork mobs with Shootas/ Pk.
Would love to play against this list with my Daemon army, for once I wouldn't be outnumbered

You REALLY need more anti tank. Only kind of army this list would stand a chance against are low personnel, high transport/vehicle ratio. Which is why the anti tank is essential.
Because the squads are so small you need every squad to fend for itself against any target.
Veteran squads and Dante are the only things I'm iffy about here. Reason being:
Veteran squads - No anti tank
Dante - Bad use of points for such a small army. I mean I know he's a great unit to have, but if you got rid of him you could get another priest, plus anti tank weps for the vet squads, which is a lot more beneficial for your army IMO.
Tiny armies like these are never good against much either way. Although they're awesome to look at and own

Common DoA builds have Dante leading an Honor Guard, with an attached Librarian with Blood Lance. What this does is allows you to line up the PERFECT shot for Blood Lance (assuming you don't roll quadruple ones) because when they come in from reserves (via Deep Strike), they don't scatter thanks to him. You're probably going to destroy a few vehicles, but you'll definitely destroy the first one you're shooting at (the Honor Guard will likely have a few meltaguns plus Dante has the Infernus Pistol). So, in that build, Dante does a lot for that unit, and as I said it's fairly common for DoA.

In small pt games, say at the 1500 pt level, Dante is too pricey. Here I'd take a Librarian with shield and blood lance as leading HQ.

Very true, and if that Libby is with a combat-squad, I like the build (no point in giving him Unleash Rage in a 5-man unit). However, the title of the post is "2k Nipplewing" and thus my clarification for daBIGboss stands. I personally don't like Sanguinary Guard at all though (which makes this list smaller becuase they're expensive and thus that means fewer models, which may have actually been what he was referring to). I'd rather have Assault Squads over the Sanguinary Guard. If he was going for models with nipple armor then without converting, the Honor Guard, Sanguinary Priests, and Vanguard Vets don't have Artificer Armor and already break the look of the army (aside from HG and VV not having dedicated models, and thus I'd rather have the Assault Squads still).
