Mutated Chosen Chaos Marine

This is just freewriting. It can help break writer's block. Once I break my writer's block I can get back to work on "The Death Guard." Enjoy!
Name: The Flame Dragon Fire Eagle Swords (though they are mostly referred to as the Eagle Swords)
Date of Founding: 899.M37 as part of the 23rd Founding
Codex Astartes Compliance: 110%
History: The day after the Eagle Sword's founding, their newly appointed Chapter Master (Kendrik Xarl) and all of the High Lords who sanctioned their creation died mysteriously. This was seen as a bad omen by some. Another Chapter Master, Leonty Jerman, was appointed. His first action was to launch the Kendrik Krusade, in honor of the late Kendrik. He brought the Eagle Swords farther up galactic north than any Chapter had ever gone before and then kept going.
He braved the ghoul stars, besting any Xenos that beset his Chapter. A detachment from one of Abaddon's Black Crusade assailed the Eagle Swords, but Captain Aleksandr of the 10th Company single-handedly outmaneuvered them and kept on going. Eventually the Eagle Swords reached a massive warp storm that seemed to end the Kendrik Krusade. Leonty refused to let that happen and plunged into the storm. Hideous Daemons of all shapes, sizes, colors, mutations and allegiances spawned aboard the ship. All seemed lost.
But it was not!
Captain Feofil of the 1st Company led his Terminators in a massive charge across the fleet, purging any signs of Chaos and saving the Chapter. For this he was awarded the Imperial Award of Unheretical Excellency by Leonty. The Kendrik Krusade went on. Overall, twenty solar systems were conquered by the Eagle Swords. Finally, running low on resources, Leonty decided that his Chapter should return to Terra. As he began traveling back, he discovered something terrible.
The Black Legion detachment that they had outmaneuvered decades ago had trailed behind them relentlessly, stealing every planet that the Eagle Swords had managed to claim. In fact, Leonty had inadvertently paved the way for a new Empire of Chaos that would supply resources and soldiers to future Black Crusades for years to come. In a fit of rage, Captain Aleksandr, the very Eagle Sword that had saved the fleet from the Black Legion many years ago, beat Leonty to death with a sock full of lug-nuts. Captain Feofil assumed the role of Chapter Master and had Aleksandr executed for Heresy. At his execution, Aleksandr quipped, "Everything I did was for the Emperor. If I must die for my loyalty, so be it. Also, Feofil is a homo! Heh."
Feofil led the ashamed Eagle Swords back to Terra. He concluded that the Chapter's fatal mistake was not adhering to the Codex Astartes enough, despite already following it closely. It was declared that from that moment onward, the Eagle Warriors would do nothing unless it was specifically explained and ordained by the Codex Astartes. Even Reboute Gulliman, despite his reputation as a dunce, understood that no matter how well written his book was it could not be used for everything and was only a rough guideline for war, nothing more. Feofil also established the Eagle Sword's homeworld, Zurtek IV, where they recruited an average of 0.871 Aspirants a day. Of those Aspirants, 2.3% actually became full fledged Astartes.
Disaster struck; decades ago, when Leonty had gone into the warpstorm, the Chapter had been exposed to unsafe levels of chaos (albeit any level is unsafe, this level was extremely unsafe). The psychically attuned Epistolary Nikita had heeded the whispers of Chaos and ultimately become corrupted. He swayed Chief Librarian Yordul, Epistolary Mikhail, Epistolary Ivan, Captain Anastas of the 2nd Company, Captain Germogen of the 4th Company, Captain Yevgeny of the 8th Company, Chaplain Sergej of the 2nd Company, Chaplain Ne-Li of the 4th Company, Chaplain Karoz of the 7th Company and Neophyte Stephan of the 3rd Company. They ended up corrupting approximately two fifths of the Chapter to Chaos. Suddenly, just after the Eagle Swords settled down and began to plan their next course of actions, they attempted a coup.
A bloody two hundred year war resulted for control of Zurtek IV. Though a request for reinforcements was sent to the High Lords by Feofil, it was lost in the great bureaucracy, as were the second, third and fourth requests. Despite outnumbering the Traitors, the Loyalists were unable to defeat them due to the Codex Astartes not describing how to use numbers as an advantage enough. Then another disaster struck. As history has shown, two wrongs make a right, and this was no exception. A massive asteroid struck Zurtek IV, killing the vast majority of the Chapter. Only a single Traitor and four Loyalists were left alive. Though the Loyalists were extremely heavily injured, so was the Traitor. They crawled seven miles over thirteen days to meet in a brutal melee. Ultimately the Traitor was slain and the Eagle Swords emerged victorious.
However, an odd number of wrongs makes one wrong. An earthquake killed the last remaining Loyalists. Thus the Flame Dragon Fire Eagle Swords were lost to history.
Notable Persons:
Chapter Master Kendrik Xarl: Best known for single-handedly defeating a raging Carnifex in close combat with only a rusty combat knife and a screw driver, Kendrik is a galaxy renowned hero of the Imperium. He was born on Terra to a poor, downtrodden single mother. At age 9 he killed a debt collector that had been sent to repossess everything his mother owned, including her teeth and the clothes on her back. The Imperial Fists heard of this and recruited him. He easily passed training and worked his way up the ranks, soon becoming the Captain of the 2nd Company.
During the Siege of Haddrake Tor he saved Lysander from a Champion of Khorne by breaking the Chaos Space Marine's neck with his left hand while disarming him with his right. In pitched fighting within the Battle of Naeuysk Gorge he survived being run over by a Night Lords Land Raider and successfully tracked down and killed the driver many days later. Despite heavy losses sustained by earlier Imperial Fists strike forces, he managed to claim Nimbosa in the name of the Imperium after several failed attempts by both the Imperial Fists and the Black Templars. Eventually Vladimir Pugh declared he was deserving of his own Chapter and petitioned that he should be granted leadership of the newly created Eagle Swords.
The day after he accepted his position he was found dead in his bathtub of a drug overdose.
Chapter Master Leonty Jerman: Despite his many accomplishments, Leonty's existence has been mostly covered up by the Eagle Swords after the ill fated Kendrik Krusade. Leonty was once a proud Red Consul with purity in his heart and a stoicism that could impress even a Primarch. Upon his recruitment to the Eagle Swords and his promotion to Chapter Master spearheaded the Kendrik Krusade and accomplished a great deal, only for it to all be taken away by a single mistake made decades ago. His death was long, painful and drawn-out at the hands Captain Aleksandr of the 10th Company.
Chapter Master Feofil Bjorkensons: A proud and honorable Ultramarine, Feofil was assigned to the Eagle Swords after Marneus Calgar learned that the Ultramarines had a surplus of Astartes. He started out as the Captain of the 2nd, but became the Captain of the 1st after Kendrik's death and later became the Chapter Master after Leonty's death. He established the Eagle Swords as an extremely Codex Astartes adherent Chapter and conquered their home world. Unfortunately, he was killed when an asteroid hit that homeworld.
Chief Librarian Yordul Wurz: Despite his incompetence, Yordul was one of the most psychically adept Imperials of the 41st millennial. With a thought he dismember a Dreadnought or break a Carnifex's neck. He was obsessed with the loss of his cousin, who had once been an Aspirant like him but had been killed in training. Nikita promised that his cousin would return to life if he just turned to Chaos and helped crown him as the new Chapter Master. It is possible that he summoned the asteroid that ultimately killed almost everyone, as just moments before it impacted he had given a speech that, "DEATH WILL RAIN ON ZURTEC IV!" and then went into his quarters to attempt a private psychic ritual.
Epistolary Nikita Yaropolk: When Leonty descended into the warpstorm, Nikita was suddenly attacked by Daemons. As they assailed his soul, they also spoke to him of amazing possible futures and the true freedom to follow your emotions and whims, regardless of what the Imperium instructed. Ultimately Nikita was swayed to their cause. Over many decades he converted other Astartes to his side, telling each one a different story that he knew would ensure their loyalty.
Captain of the 10th Aleksandr Yakim: Recruited on one of Jupiter's many moons, Aleksandr quickly rose up the ranks despite his choler and admitted lack of self restraint. He was a genius regarding warfare, said to be loyalist equivalent of Alpharius, but was denied promotions due to his contempt for authority. During the Battle of Yahzenberg he flanked and had executed an entire Ork Waagh! with only fifty scouts and three Rhinos. When the Eagle Swords were confronted by the Black Legion during the Kendrik Krusade it was he that took control of the fleet and established order amongst Chaos, successfully evading all of the heretical vessels. After learning that Leonty had failed to take care of the planets he had conquered and all had been wasted, he beat Leonty to death with a sock full of lug-nuts over a period of seven hours and was executed by Captain Feofil.
