Hi I have just recently started a ogre army I was curious about my plans for what I am thinking of running and wondered if people could give me an idea on numbers per unit and how many units I should be looking at playing with. It has been a very long time since ive played a fantasy game I love the game but am a bit bewildered by the idea of percentages of units and such. I am sure I am making it harder than it really is.

So plan on running (it should be noted i got ahold of a buddies old oop ogre army box the one with the limited edition bruiser)
a bruiser or tyrant
slaughter master
a bsb
bulls
Ironguts
mournfang cavalry
leadbelchers
yhetees
iron blaster
thundertusk

Fixed it for yah.
Unless you are getting up into 3k, an extra bruiser or tyrant isnt really needed, you can get ld 9 via standard of discipline.
Yhetees simply are never good. Sorry
The thundertusk is a maybe keep, but understand he turns into 250 free VP if the enemy has any sort of cannon.
Everything else is just gravy. You got a good start going

excellent so what is the genral concensus on amount of models in these units or should it be multiple units of these models etc ??

Thank you for the fix and the reasoning for why it should be this way.

Hallo!
Nice pickup, that's a great start to an army!
You will probably find that a slaughtermaster and bsb is the most effecient character setup, giving both good magic and leadership buffs.
Bulls/ironguts are best in blocks of 6 or 9, IMO. Although more units of 4 is legitimate as well.
Mournfang are usually run 2 or 4, which I think is based more on model price than anything.
Iron blaster and monster are both good. Keep in mind thier relativly low cost compaired to your other units, as they will be your only chaff.
I would try to find longtime ogre players and get some cheap gnoblar or sabertusks for drops steadfast and redirecting options... past that it really depends on how 'big' the unit metagame is in your area, but ogres can hang with the best!

You don't think yhettees will come in handy after the first 2-3 all etheral VC armies show up?

It really depends on who you'll be playing for the most part. Ironblasters, bulls, mournfang and the bsb and wizards are the way to go. Ironguts are still good too.

So I have bolstered my force a bit

slaughter master
butcher or slaughter master
a bsb
14 bulls
8 Ironguts
2mournfang cavalry
8 leadbelchers
1 scraplauncher
(still want an ironblaster but figure the scraplauncher will do for the time being )
also gained 60 gnoblars a gorger and 1 maneater the 1 maneater is useless
