I know a guy that knows a Guy that made a fully close combat army (space marines)
with no shooting weapons (even pistols)
how can this be done

Technicly he still has pistols and bolters hes just not using them if he is vanilla marines or blood angles. Part of being good a close combat is having a pistol and a ccw so you get the extra attack in close combat. You should ask to look at his list because something sounds off with that list. Sounds like a fun list to fight, just bring some stuff to pop his trasports and sit back .

An awful DA list is the only way to have no guns for marines.

I bet that list would still beat a load of armies

There's 2 ways this could be done. A DA list with Belial and troop terminators. Or it could also be a Space Wolf List with Logan Grimnar. He makes Wolf Guard troops, and there 2 base weapons, a pistol and CCW, can each be switched out for something else. It wouldn't be a super good list, but it is possible.

Actually the second choice is BA have either termy librarian or captain or other HQs if you allow hand flamers with death company.

Logan wing has Logan's storm bolter!

Draigowing has to have one stormbolter and you can form a inquisitor list with one bolt pistol for GK.

Sounds tough. I dunno how you could make a list without pistols though. I suppose for CSM you could do...

Daemon princes for HQs, maybe a greater daemon
Chaos Terminators with x5 sets of lightning claws OR possessed
x4 Units of Berserkers, footslogging
Raptors? Not sure if they have a bolter or not
Defilers with double CCW (wait, no, they have a BC)

Might not be a horrible list, actually. Chaos Terminators with LCs are brutal as a mother

OK there is a third Wolfborn with his wolves.

So far only deathwing scoring. They should be ok at scoring battles as they are hard to kill in 7 turns and they can push people off their objectives.

k. i think he plays one of the DA or BA but he said he put storm shields on, expect pistols

so i think he will have a 3+ save and a 3+ invon after
