We gamers get Warhammer stuff from the holiday gift giving season. Gift Certificates and such. Blister packs. Sometimes a gift does not go with the army you're currently fielding. "Cool, I got a dreadnaught, but it doesn't go with my Dark Eldar."

So that dread you got wrapped in Santa paper, the Chaos Lord in T-Armor, Ork Trukk, SoB, Vestroyan or whatever goes on the shelf, until such time that you change armies ... or like during the holidays, you have some down time and decide to bust out your paints.

Thus it is. I did some organizing and made a "turn-in-for-store-credit pile". I found some things that have languished for years. So, currently getting done:

1. Lesser Daemons (Khrone) for my Chaos: SM. Based, primed and soon a little dry-brush of red, orange, etc. Face details and then they'll be ready to suck on the battlefield.
2. Battle for Maccragge, yeah BfM, 'crashed aquila' terrain pieces, dry-brushed up the dirt and gave the ship some BA red, metal-worn edges. That's finally done and now table presentable.
3. There's some CSM bikers that are still primer only.
4. Last few walls of Basillica Administratum will finally become a building. Primer, dry-brushed, and 'rust' details.
5. Gonna hit the LGS bits bin for eldar/DE like pistols and CCWs to turn my eldar guardians into Storm Guardians. After 4 years, it's time for them to stop taking up shelf space.

What're the projects that you're digging up, dakka? How long have they been waiting to be finished?

Ultramarine Master with Gauntlets of Macragge

I just dug up about 100 Kryomek figures from between 8-12 years ago. Half of them aren't painted, the other half is painted about as well as a 10 year old can paint. Gonna strip em and start over!

Last year I found a Land Raider, with the sprues primed black but otherwise untouched. It's going into my Iron Warriors army!

I found a few amusing projects in my box the other day. One was a marine resculpted to be standing on a body, and the gaunt with holes drilled into it and damage to it's carapace with a bolter aimed at it's head. Unpainted, unprimed, waiting for the lot. Then another is a flayed one next to a mix of zombie and IG bits. The plan included a smidge of green stuff on the claws for flesh and bam! Mini diorama for a slain guardsman (the only thing flayed ones could reliably kill anyway. :( )

Then I too found my BfM Aquilla and with my recent return to 40K it will be the next terrain piece I paint up.

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Hulkamania Space Marines

Started that up probably 3 or 4 years ago (whenever AoBR dropped). Had a couple of decent green stuff pieces in there too. I'm pretty sure I was planning on making Undertaker CSM. Who knows, maybe I'll get the itch to finish them...

From 2 PM, until Santa delivered goodies last night, I managed to bring the daemons up to based, 5 colors. They need a little base dry-brushing and some face details.

Two 40 mm objectives for BOA practice - 2 barrels and those gas-can bits and then the 'box' of ammo. Done.

Two buildings, primed so far.

I ought to have taken some before&after pictures.
