The instructions say there is some kind of pin that goes in between the two halves of the gun, but I don't think the piece is there, but I'm not sure. There is a piece that looks kind of like a pin, but it falls right through the hole the pin is supposed to go through. Help? Also WTF why does the kit not come with a heavy Bolter?

It is a complete kit I just checked the sprues on the GW website and can't find the pin thing there either.

I put together a basilisk but it was awhile I ago. I unfortunately can't remember which pin thing. Can you glue the thing that slide throught the hole in there? Even though it slides thru just stop it from sliding and glue it into place? Unless that peice isnt the peice intended for that hole?

the pin part should probably just be molded into one half of the gun. It may be missing if the part was molded badly. As for the heavy bolter I don't know, I'd call em up and get a new kit. They'll probably send it out and leave you the one you have

You probably got a Basilisk with the old Chimera chassis. The new ones come with a heavy bolter IIRC. The "pin" you used to try and hold them together is part of the mechanism to raise and lower the gun if I recall. You just need to be careful when gluing the gun together and hold it tight so the halves of the gun don't go out of alignment.

I had the EXACT same problem as you did, don't use the thing that looks like the pin, you'll need it later. I found the pin after i had used the wrong part, just go through the sprues very carefully a few times, it looks a lot like its part of the sprue that's not used (i hope that makes sense).

I found it lol. Yeah I have one of the older (2010) kits. But it is strange that they would supply a heavy flamer and not a heavy bolter. Ah well I'll just convert one of my Leman Russ sponson bolters to fit.

(And aren't all Basilisks technically on the Chimera chassis?)

Yes, they're on a Chimera hull.
