Hello again Dakka, I have a friendly game coming up soon and I was wondering about others thoughts on this Necron VS Eldar list, Bear in mind this is from what I have at the minute and I am not sure if my opponents list is completely accurate and I dont know a few name's but still...

So here's my list:

My opponents list is something along the lines of:

Farseer (He is a unique character, said to be the best in the Eldar book)

Sorry, I dont have each individual points for the units and I dont know who the Farseer is but he is unique I know that. I also know that he has 1000 points exactly as well.

I think your second overlord is a little unneccesary, you aren't using him for a second court or command barge so he provides nothing a standard lord couldn't for cheaperI would suggest dropping him and using the points to pickup an annihilation barge and to bulk out your troops a little.

Going with that then, I could make it with dropping the second overlord and adding the annihilation barge and an extra 4 warriors, I do have all of those it's just a matter of the barges and the warriors effectiveness against the Eldar list, I have still to use the A barge si I have no idea how well they fair against a list like this.

I've only played a few games with the A Barge but so far I love them! I think they are the best vehicle for the points in the list. 4x TL S7 shots at 24" is pretty nice.

Yeah, sorry for the somewhat brief post last night but I was using my phone on night shift and felt the urge to chip in. In my experience A Barges and C Barges are some of the best things in a necron list, though they can be a real pain to paint.

You'll likely find it useful in popping the jetbikes or the dire's early on, and if he's packed in close the ability to arc the weapon will be a god send.

What's with the two overlords?

Just get one, with a combination of the toys worn by those you originally had in the list. Still not optimal, but still better than two weirdly equipped overlords you currently have.

Also, if you want to use deathmarks, a VoD cryptek in there would be great. Overall, just give a theme to your army because currently it seems to be a classic case of "I just put whatever models I have on the table and make a list out of it".

Since your opponents list seens to be more organised and to have a real purpose, I dont see you winning.

Drop the 5 warriors squad or get it up to 10+ warriors. Same goes for the immortals.

The deathmarks definitly need a VoD cryptek in there.


With the models you seem to have and without changing your list too much, this is what I would do :

-Overlord : phaeron,warcythe, orb and whatever else you want and have the points for (scarabs seem like a must, tachyon arrow seems like a waste, and the 2+ and 3++ are up to you)

-15-20 warriors + destruction cryptek or warcythe and scarabs lord + overlord goes there for relentless and orb

-5-10 immortals + destruction cryptek

-5-10 deathmarks + VoD cryptek

-7-10 scarabs

-Doomsday ark/ 2x annihilation barge



To me, even if not optimal, this is still much more trimmed than what you originally had and more efficient. Obviously you cant max out everything I listed so youll still have some choices to make, but the large squad of warriors seems like a necessity (in this typical list), a large squad of immortals not so much.

This is overall the same list as the original one, but more punchy and efficient imo, there is less waste of points. It's up to you to keep it under 1000 points without wasting any efficiency.

Also, I'd either go for 2x doomsday ark OR 2x (or even 3x) annihilation barge, not for a mix of both.

I will post up the new list when I make it, but with all those suggestions I'm going to have to fork out a lot more than I hope to at the minute, kinda the reason why I said from what I have at the minute, I'm not looking to spend more than £30 to £40.

If you only want to shell out about 30ish on new units I'd suggest just picking up two Barges, use one as a command barge for one overlord (drop the second one), and one as an annihilation barge.

You'd have to free up some points from elsewhere in the list, possibly losing a single base of scarabs (I dont have my book to hand) but for that price your warscythe lord can go sweeping enemy units and tanks to his hearts content whilst the second barge can pop enemy infantry and jetbikes.

There are several sites that have the barges for about £16 each (so 32) in the UK

Well I had the game today and I won, so I'm pretty happy with that, and I went for a this list:

It was Eldrad that my opponent used, 2 wave serpents and 2 Fire prisms with 20 total Dire avengers

It was annihilation on board quarters, My opponent got first turn, and the game ended on turn 5, he had one kill point, I had 4 for destroying both prisms and a wave serpent and a squad of avengers, he killed my 20 strong warriors and the first cryptek, however the one kill point was awarded for the warriors as he did not kill the second cryptek.
