Seeing as how this past month my IG went from 3 tanks to 7, figured I would have some fun with them. This list is not meant to be the standard list that everyone else runs, just for fun this week at the local store.

HQ:

Lord Commissar w/ power weapon, carapace armour, melta bombs

Just wanting to see what all those large blast markers do, and see what my opponent looks like when I deploy them all. Just for fun. Will let you know how it turns out.

Crazy enough, I played this list tonight and had a ton of fun with it. Played against Dark Angels. Don't know his list exactly, but, it did have the CPT in terminator armour, 15 termies, two dreads with drop pods, a land raider, a ten man tactical squad w/ plasma cannon. Another tactical squad, ten strong with melta gun in a drop pod. The termis were an interesting mix with T.H., lightning claws, assault cannons. My list was as follows:

Penal Legion squad: (they got the extra weapon and rending rule)

I ended up killing two of my own tanks due to imobilizing them over terrain. He killed two of the main guns and imobilized one of the demolishers (after the other one killed itself due to a role of 1).

By the end of the game, I had one LRBT, Demolisher (imobilized) Exterminator (missing the main gun), Eradicator, one chimera unharmed, and a chimra missing its turrent after 6 turns. The penal legion squad was at 50%. Two of the melta vets were on foot (thier chimeras were wrecked) but on objectives. It was a game where controling table quarters was the objective. He had only one troop choice left. I held two, and contested two. Big win for me.

Deployement was in table quarters, and all that tank goodness left him no room to come in behind me. Only two drop pods, one with dreadnaught, one with melta squad, and two termie squads came in first turn. It was easy to deal with them thanks to all the big plates flying around. This many tanks seemed to make it difficult for him to focus on troops.

Not saying this is the next big thing, however, it was fun to play and it was a good game played between friends. We just both got back from Iraq in the past five weeks.
