Subject: First Ever List, 1000 points (New player, Dark Eldar, looking for advice)

Hey everyone. New player here. I've read through a fair bit of the rule book, have a basic understanding of how most of it works, and have read through, and own, multiple codexes, and have decided I want to play Dark Eldar. So, before I start more actively collecting, I wanted to have something to aim towards. I've read tactica and things like that, but I guess I wanted some opinions on my list ideas in particular. The basic concept this list was built off of was "If I bought the Dark Eldar Battleforce, and started there, how could I expand that to a thousand points without making too many more purchases". Hence the inclusion of Reaver Jetbikes (I'm not much for bikes). Please be patient with me, I'm new to this game. It's not supposed to be impressive, I'm just looking for some opinions on how this can be improved without getting rid of anything from the battleforce (Ten Kabalite Warriors, ten Wyches, a Raider, and three Reaver Jetbikes). I want to have a good idea what I'm aiming for before I really start collecting more (So far I only have some Kabalite Warriors, some of which I'm using to test paint schemes). Now, the list:
HQ:
Haemonculus w/ Liquifier Gun
(60 points)
Elites:
3 Kabalite Trueborn w/ 3 Blasters, in Venom w/ 2 Splinter Cannon
(146 points)
Troops:
(Troop choice because of haemonculus) 8 Wracks w/ Liquifier Gun, in Raider w/ Flickerfield (This is where the Haemonculus will be)
(160 points)
10 Kabalite Warriors w/ Blaster and Dark Lance, in Raider w/ Flickerfield
(200 points)
10 Wyches, w/ Razorflail, Haywire Grenades, and Hekatrix w/ Agonizer, in Raider w/ Flickerfield
(230 points)
Fast Attack:
3 Reavers, one w/ Cluster Caltrops (Intended to use only for bladevanes and cluster caltrops, turbo-boosting every turn and relying on 3+ cover save and terrain to avoid being shot down)
(86 points)
Heavy Support:
Ravager w/ Flickerfield
(115 points)
Total point value: 997
So, anyone got any ideas how this list could be improved? Remember, it's based around the battleforce, so the wyches, kabalite warriors, and the reavers aren't going anywhere, though some equipment changes could still work (I only gave the wyches one razorflail because if I remember right the kit only includes one, and that's what I'm basing off of). The fewer purchases I have to make before I can start playing with a decent sized list the better. I know I'll have to buy some bits to put together the Truborn (Especially the Blasters). I had another idea that involved a Razorwing Jetfighter and a small group of Incubi, instead of the Wracks, Ravager, and the Truborn in the Venom, but I wanted to get a third Troops choice in there. Anyway, I'll stop talking now. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Drop the Dark lance form the 10 man kabalite squad. U cant move and shoot it besides that man looks very solid. If you can find another razorflail it would help.
Good job man better than my first ever DE list lol

A good cheap HQ

Blasterborn is the flavor of the day - i prefer 2 dark lances over the 3 blasters as they stop being so much of a suicide squad.

The haemy should not here deployed here, they don't need his token. The acothyst is useful as his LD bumps the unit and keeps them around.

I would swap the lance for a splinter cannon and even consider a sybarite for the LD boost. A blast pistol as well if the points allow.

You need to drop a wych from the unit so they haemy can join them. IMO the wyches NEED the FNP token to ensure that some live if the paper plane goes down.

To be honest, i would ditch the caltrops for a heat lance and make them a suicde melta unit. I think you would get much more out of them this way.

HQ - Excellent Choice
Elites - Good choice. Stick with the blasters, switching them to DL's is a waste of points because you loose all mobility.
Troops - Agree with moving the Haemie to the Wych squad. Wyches are great IF they have FnP... they're crap without it. Also, I disagree with adding a sybarite to the Warrior squad. All you are getting with him is +1 Ldr, which I don't feel is worth the points upgrade.
Fast Attack - Reavers will work if you are already getting them in a battleforce or something similar. However, they are not the best FA choice for DE. That title would probobly hafta go to beastmasters.
Heavy - Good choice, although if you can find a way to drop the reavers plus free up a few points somewhere, You would be much better served with 2 ravagers at the 1k level imo.
All in all, a solid list though... Good job on your fist list.

Blasterborn are suicide units 9 times out of 10. What lance born loose in mobility they gain in durability by sheer virtue of range.
As for the sybarite - the LD boost is huge in a 10 man squad. 5 Guys, yeh skip it but 10 can be a fair investment and loosing a couple of them in a fireball of raider parts can easily result in a unit falling back. LD 9 helps.

Thanks for the opinions, guys. I've got some potential alterations to the list I'm looking at. I'll definitely be dropping a Wych to stick the Haemonculus with the squad, you're all quite right about that one, and it makes a lot of sense. For a little more reliable, long range firepower I'm considering dropping the Reavers (I'm not much for bikes anyway, and if I have them via getting the battleforce I can save them for a larger army with more points to waste) and one of the Blasters in the Trueborn squad, to help free up the points for a second Ravager.

First off welcome to Dakka. Second you will want to get to know these two pretty well.

This is Dash he's a highly ranked DE player and knows his stuff better than probably anyone else on here. I don't see him critique lists alot but when he does listen.

This is Thor. He has some really good tactica you should go read. I don't agree with him on everything but he's a really nice guy and knows his stuff.

Good.
Kay wrote:

Acceptable. I prefer 4 w/ Blasters or 3 w/ 2 DL. Basically you set up the DL in a ruin or other thing providing cover then use the venom as a gunship. Blasters can be tough to come by though.

Ehh...I'm not so big on wracks. A small squad can camp a home objective, but for anything other than that I'd rather have warriors and wyches. Above all though DON'T put the haemy here.
Kay wrote:

Cut the squad in two halves and turn the DL into a blaster. You can take the B.Pitsol muzzle and attach it to a splinter rifle just before the indented part starts and makes that line (right after the stock ends). Then put them in two seperate venoms w/ 2 SC. This will give you the same number of AT shots more infantry killing power and more scorring. You can use the wracks for points.
Kay wrote:
10 Wyches, w/ Razorflail, Haywire Grenades, and Hekatrix w/ Agonizer, in Raider w/ Flickerfield

Drop one wych for the haemy. If you get shot down early FNP can let you still make it to the enemy. Basically they are escorts for the hekatrix but the razorflail does give them some chance without her. If you need points the haywires and razoflail can go. Haywires save wyches from dreadnoughts but so does planning.

Much like yourself I don't like bikes, but I get it's coming from the battle force. With that said go with a blaster or heat lance instead of the caltrops. 3+ cover can be ignored by flamers. Blasters can get you a good distance away and heat lances can hop out of rapid fire range, but when you start expanding go with scourges and beasts.

Of course it is still good.

Razorwings work best if you have enough AT elsewhere. You don't. Incubi are best small no more than 5 or 6, but ravagers and blasterborn are amazingly good. You were right though to go with more troops as ours are incredibly frail. At higher levels though 2 squads of blasterborn and a squad of incubi make a nasty group of elites choices. If you talk the incubi up big your trueborn can do some serious damage as your opponent may try to focus on the incubi.
