Just realized that there is no end to the amount of mini's I want to collect. I'm friggin screwed. I'll never get the ones I have already purchased painted before I go out and buy new ones. Its going to be a never ending vicious yet amazing cycle unless I somehow grow out of it. But i'm already 25 yrs old and CANT GET ENOUGH Warhammer fantasy, 40k and Warmachine. Honestly there isn't a model I don't like, and army I don't want to collect. I seriously love it all and its gonna be the end of me. Probably fincially hahha damn!









P.S Not even sure if this is appropriate anywhere but I just had to share my love for this whole world that i just re-discovered 7 month ago after taking a 10yr hiatus. Just got back from the store where I bought each of the Valtens of sigmar. All 3 variations from youngest to oldest. SOOOO SICKK!!! Cant wait to get at them. Once again I love this hobby!

LOL. Hmmm, no. But I did juust go and blow 145 bucks when surely I could have spent it on something more useful. Stil tho, worth every penny. I just see this as the never ending, never satiable hobby.

I have the same problem. I love it all.
For the last 10 years I lived by a resolution:
Paint more than I buy.
I still have way more than I will ever finish painting but it does help keep things manageable. To the point that I almost feel guilty if I buy new figures.
It also helps to focus on one or two armies to collect and just admire the rest from a distance.

I`ve promised myself no new armies till i got rid of some of the 10 i currently have for 40k. This was a few years ago, now all my armies are over 3.5k pts and growing. But at least i stuck to my promise.

You'll get over that. Soon, you'll be selling off all kinds of junk you don't know why you have for bottom of the barrel prices, and then you'll focus on a single army, and then you'll just fall out of the hobby again for another ten years.

There comes that time in your life when you realize that you've reached a tipping point.
You don't have the years left on this planet to paint what you have and be able to take care of everything else in your life that needs tending.

About the best thing you can do before you hit that stage is have a friend accompany you whenever you go to a game store and say into you ear, as you look at second wave whatever, "Remember thou art mortal...."

being able to afford GW minis = not being screwed, at least financially

Im getting way too much money for birthdays and stuffs, like 50€ from every of my 5 aunts and uncles and grandmas, so if i spent all of it id never manage to paint even 10% of my stuffz. So i decided to save up 75% of my money and only spend the rest. Works fine.

I cured myself by stopping and reflecting on how pointless it all was Even on the days that I could get a full run at it I could just about manage getting a 10 man squad painted, and that was only if a 10 hour day was involved. You then add in all the systems you have and think about how much time you actually get to play, times the armies you have, plus the time it takes to learn the rules. At which point I thought, unless I win the lottery and have all the time in the world, this is all pointless.

I am pretty much in the same boat as Wolfstan. I now only buy mini's that I like the look of.
That way, I only have 3 or 4 mini's on the go at once. And I have at least a semblance of self control and only buy new when I have finished what I started!

You all bring up good points. So nice to hear other people in the same boat as me. Its great and all but I feel overwhelmed sometimes. And also I get guilty for not painting as much as I should, especially when I still have models to assemble :X

But SNURL, that is a great motto to live by. Thats what my mom said to. Shes like just stay focused on what ya got right now. So thats what I'll try and use that as my hobby motto.

just wait until you discover a new system to play. I've moved over to historicals and now play Force on Force and Tomorrow's War. I've sold off most of my GW figgies and purchased 20mm figgies.

Embrace the Dark Side, pick up your historical Tape Measure and strike down the GW rulebook and your training will be complete.... muhahahah [/sarcasm]

In all honesty though, the reasion you buy so many figgies is that you have figured it out... You don't die until you finish painting off your last model... immortality baby!!!!! FTW
