So looking at buying a few moulds to make some scenery here at home and was wondering where you guys had gotten yours. It seems that Hirst Arts is the place to go, but I'm a cheap skate so if you guys have cheaper suggestions I'd totally look into them =D Didn't seem to find much on eBay =(

Not much out there in cast-it-yourself but Hirstarts.

They seem expensive, but if you follow the instructions, they will give you hundreds of casts (that's mostly what you are paying for - unlimited reproduction rights).

I have some Noch Rockmoulds that I use, but otherwise, for building ruins, I use sandcasting.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

THanks for the response, is Sandcasting a brand or a technique?

It's a technique.

Wet sand. You carve into it the shapes you want (it's pretty much useful only for basic shapes. Ruined walls, domes, etc). Easier to show than explain. You basically make a negative for your cast to fill out.

Once done, you pour your casting agent (like plaster, hydrostone/hydrocal) into it, leave it and let it set.

It's even pre-textured due to the sand. It got shown to me back in the late 80s.

Well then I guess I gotta get a time machine or go to YouTube and find out, huh? Thanks, I'll definitely look into it!

Go to a model train shop. The woodland senics line has lots of rock and wall molds for use with plaster or hydrocal.

I think MicroMark still carries them too if you don't have a model train shop close by.

This site is also a good place to start: http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/
