So I was chatting with a buddy today about the command barge and using Anrakyr.

I was thinking of this combo:

Command barge moves flat out and say it flies over a Rhino. Anrakyr would get his 3 sweeping attacks and hitting on a 4+. I believe you can do this while going flat out as it only shows the special rules separating "moving" and "moving at combat speed" (the 3+ vs the 4+).

So Anrakyr pops a rhino (1 vehicle killed).

Vehicle is open topped - and we thumbed through the big red book. We looked up open topped vehicles, disembarking, moving at cruising speed, moving at flat out - nowhere does it say you cannot disembark after you have moved flat out, least nothing that I could find... so Anrakyr jumps off his Command barge. I know using fire poitns it says "Models firing from a vehicle count as moving if the vehicle moves, and may not fire at all if the vehicle moved at cruising speed that turn." ... is that just for fire points and firing from the vehicle?

If not, once he's disembarked, can he then use mind of the machine (also.... can he use his tachyon arrow as well?) to fire say a land raiders guns at another vehicle / squad, then use his tachyon arrow at a separate vehicle/unit?

Lastly, after he's disembarked and finished his shooting phase, can he then assault a vehicle that is within 6" of him?

If he can do all of this, I could see him:

Popping a rhino or another vehicle in his movement phase while he closes in

Disembark up to 2" away giving him a pretty good line up to other vehicles. Taking control of a land raider seems like you could fire its lascannons and pop 1-2 more vehicles. Then firing his Tachyon arrow at another vehicle seems like you could kill another vehicle if lucky enough, then assaulting said land raider after its shots were fired last round.

If all of this is legal , I could see him taking out 4~ vehicles if luck is on his side.

So I guess I'm asking:

1. - Can you move flat out and get the sweeping strikes attack from the command barge? - I think yes.
2.a. - Can you disembark after moving flat out?
2.b. - If you can disembark, can you use the Mind of the Machine and fire a Tachyon arrow? - I think yes to Mind of the Machine as it's not actually a shooting attack... firing the Tachyon arrow is, and I'm sorta on the fence about that from the rule listed under "Fire Points" saying "Models firing from a vehicle count as moving ..." (what i wrote above) but it does say "models firing FROM A VEHICLE..."
3 - Can you assault after moving flat out from the skimmer? - I think if you can disembark, you probably can assault since that is the special rule with open topped vehicles.

Thanks guys, sorta new to transports since im so used to foot slogging with necrons and playing tyranids lol

1. - Can you move flat out and get the sweeping strikes attack from the command barge?
- yes as far as i can tell

2.a. - Can you disembark after moving flat out?
No - a unit may not embark or disembark if a vehicle moves faster than cruising speed. Note a vehicle may not move faster then cruising speed if a unit embarks either

2.b. - If you can disembark, can you use the Mind of the Machine and fire a Tachyon arrow?
Yes, mind in the machine is not a shooting attack and thus can be used. You could also fire the tachyon arrow if you disembarked (though again only at cruising speed)

3 - Can you assault after moving flat out from the skimmer?
No as you can not disembark

Thanks Massaen.

Still, that's not bad, flat out and do sweeping strikes, get your cover save. Next turn , move cruising speed then do remaining awesomeness.

Is the command barge a Fast Skimmer?

i thought it was just a skimmer, in which case it can't move Flat Out anyway.

If it lives. If something flew over one of my vehicles and into my backfield, it would be one of the first things to go, 4+ cover or not. (Course, Fire Dragon exarchs make short work of flat-out skimmers).

For the longest time I dismissed Command barges solely because I read the annihilation barge first and because it's the same chassis i assumed it moved at the same speed... glad I re-read it and I was wrong
