I really cant choose between red scorpions or dark angels , if i did dark angels they would probably be all robed with alot of deathwing , and red scorpions i just love the look of their helmets and dat' but i dont know how to paint them D:
Could someone help me choose .

If you want to game with them, you have to take into account that DA will have their own codex, and may get a new one early in 6th ed.

If it's just for the fluff, then not being able to paint the scorpions could be problematic. If it doesn't bother you, you could say your chapter is a sister chapter to the scorpions.

I think you should learn how to paint them and go for scorpions, because they're rare and unique.

Got the money for forgeworld bits? Don't mind waiting for things to be shipped to you? I'd go Red Scorpions. You would have a very unique force.

Otherwise, go for Dark Angels.

Dark Angels with a fair share of Maximus Armour and not all robed?

The Scorpions will be much more expensive. The Dark Angels will all be wearing hoodie bathrobes and acting emo. Gotta balance the good with the bad I guess.

I would seriously advise against "robes on every mini". It does look silly. Robes are IMO alot cooler if used in moderation.. to pick out Veterans, Sergeants, etc..,.

Didn't even realize he was a Dark Angel at first. Green seems a bit too bright. I like the blood effect, but in reality, the rapid downward motion of the chain teeth is going to splatter blood towards the handle, regardless of the placement or angle of cut. My biggest gripe about most blood effects people try to do on chainswords. They forget and leave that side effect out.

Depends on the "speed" of the cut I guess. If it's a slow "sawing" like a current chainsaw through a tree, you'd probably be right. If it's just a fast, rapid chop into/through an enemy more akin to a sword-swing, it likely wouldn't. Either way, question was not the quality of the mini (though I quite like it). You'll find plenty of GW-shots, WD-shots, etc.. that show DA without robes.

It's an unfortunate feature of many, many "themed armies" I've seen, that alot of people apparently believe that taking a defnining element and tuning it up to 11 is gonna make a better "theme". Often as not, "less is more" IMO.

I know the DA don't all wear robes. The TS said he was going to make his all have robes. I actually own that model, lol. Though he was probably four dollars when I bought him, haha.

But no, with the rotational speed that a chainsword would have to have in order to be an effective cutting tool, it doesn't matter how fast the cut would be. The teeth would be spinning fast enough to travel a full length and splatter blood downwards. The rending of the chain teeth is what gives the blade its cutting power, not a true "edge" like a sword. You're not ever "chopping". You're always sawing, even if the sawing effect is fast enough to appear to be a chop. Which, in that case, the teeth are going to be cycling incredibly fast and spraying blood and tissue all the heck over the place, lol.

Dark Angels are more interesting than the internets would have you believe...

If after asthetics and fluff, i still couldn't decide I'd go on rules... Scorpions have they're own rules set i believe, but not everyone likes using forgeworld stuff so keep in that in mind.
I'd play dark angels and expand the army when they get their 6th edition codex.

I'll just get Dark angels and have my veterans and sergeants in robes . and definitly that maximus armour , i could make some sternguard or something. I will probably get the red scorpions guy with the honour guard just to paint .
