I have decided to build a ultramarine army as my new years project, I have pulled all my bits out of my bits box and started building up a list.

Librarian, Terminator Armour

Rhino, Hunter Killer

10 man Tac Squad, Sgt with Combi-Melta, Lascannon, Meltagun
Razorback, TL Lascannon

10 man Tac Squad, Sgt with Combi-Melta, Lascannon, Meltagun
Razorback, TL Lascannon

Dreadnought, Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamer

5 SS/TH CC Terminators
Land Raider

Land Speeder Tornado, Heavy Flamer, Multimelta

Land Speeder Tornado, Heavy Flamer, Multimelta

Vindicator

Vindicator

Predator, Autocannon, Lascannon Side Sponsons

Looking for advice on whether the tac squad builds are suitable and what the extra 35 points could go on.

I like the first tac squad. The other two seem like they're going to suffer from not having enough punch to throw at the enemy. The times i've sat back with a tac squad to make use of their heavy weapons I was usually dissapointed. I'd go with a free heavy weapon, and if you get to use it cool if not well it was free so who cares. Also, when I've used combat squads to seperate the heavy weapon from the special weapon i was dissapointed. Fluff wise, space marines are stupid good, but gaming wise not so much. Combat squads are FRAGILE, maybe you'd have an advantage in a objective game though. I'd kit those marines out to prepare them for a close range fire fight, just like you did with the first tac squad. Hope this helped. Peace.

Grand ol US of A

I see alot of ML/Flamer with a PW or PF on the sarge. Then running a LC/TLPG razorback. So it would be 5 guys one of which has a ML and the other 5 are a PW/PF and a flamer (maybe melta but mostly flamer) in the razorback. Often a Chapter Master, chaplain, or Captain will join them. Essentially it doubles the number of heavy weapons being shot, and gives some decent CC units.

Basically a heavy weapon will sit on a home obj or 2 while the third tac squad is in position to cover one of the two if they go down. The other 3 combat squads move up in the razorbacks to stop a charge or take/contest an enemy obj.

BT uses the Codex Astartes as toilet paper. They’re an Imp Fist successor, recruit from multiple planets, and are known to be the largest Chapter in the galaxy. They’re on a constant Crusade, keeping it real for the Emperor and not bumming around like the other guys. They hate psykers and can’t ally with them. They’re basically an entire chapter of Chaplains. CC lunatics. What every Space Marine should aspire to be, if not trapped in a Matt Ward nightmare.

The list just has a few too many things unsupported.

First 5 man squad with lascannon is a good idea, it scores and a lascannon mixes to your firepower well. Unfortunately they are left alone for only a pred for company. I would be tempted to get a thunderfire cannon or a dev. squad to give a well supported infantry base to the back line.

I can believe 2 vindis can work well. However you a reliant on them to support the rhino and protect the landraider, in which case they have too many roles.
So to a get landraider through you need tanks running with him, you can divert the rhino easily enough but unless the vindis cover/support it becomes to easily targeted.

A single tactical squad arriving on the other side is easily eaten, if you are going to land with troops come in numbers to make sure they can get the job done. There are too many ways to keep just one squad occupied.

The razorbacks running with the dreads is good.

Actually your speeder set up and assault termy set up suit Vulkan well but are a little weak here.

Oh if you can find 5 points get the stormshield for the librarian. What powers are you thinking about?

Thx for all the advice. Our local meta game isn't very strong here so this army being non optimized is fine, though I will mainly be facing BA, SW and CSM armies. I am aiming to use the models already in my collection but none of the tac squads have arms and am still not sure whether to go melta, flamer, missile or las. Though I am going PF on the sgt since combi meltas are hard to come by.
