no. It was my birthday on th 11th! me, marta and evaelc were playing 40k and eating stuff.

A scanning team arrives. After several hrs of trying and pushing buttons, they regret to inform you that the equipment is unable to penetrate beyond a layer of something... Looks like you have to go in (past all the base defences) to get a reading and enter the cavern.

ok we will sent some of my scouts in the cavern to do a reading and we will prepare an evac plan if something goes really wrong ( the scouts are equiped w night vision and snipers and of course scanner devices

Something does. the base defences activate and fire on your scout party, killing them all. It looks like your wont be able to get pass them except for deep striking right into the center of the chasm. that and destroying them. that would solve the problem too.

Evaelc: you could be making a way to get help from a splinter fleet. you are stranded after all.

or you could be up to something much more cool.

ok we will shoot the crap out of the defences and prepare an total overkill of fire power preparing for them when they come out but we will take strategic points for if there will be flayed ones. and of course call in an thunder wing with assault veterans if it gets really fishy.

ok. think multipule powermatrix's situated around a really big hole. there are 12 in total. they will blast the shizno out of anything that gets withen range. deal with them from long range while maintaining movement so any pot shots dont end badly.

the other option is to just shoot the hell out of them from space.

After you start shooting at the defences, warriors will definatly come out to see whats happening.

we ask an artillary bombard directed with an beacon that is dropped from the sky by an maurauder bomber then fire at it with the artillary and the warriors that come out shoot them with the troops that are there and ask for an ravenwing w assault vet

noctures: the base above ground is shot apart. the crons begin to send out waves of troops to engage with you. They just keep coming. you are able to get a scanning team close enough that they can get a reading of the inside of the crons base. It reveals passage ways that stretch for at least 50km in all directions with multiple exits. If multiple exits are secured, you maybe able to squeeze out the crons.

Everyone else has a free action.
