Ok, this wound allocation thing is confusing me.
I understood it that if a 5 man squad (mixed) took 5 or more wounds, everyone had to have at least wound allotted to them before stacking.

so in a squad of say like 4 normal guys and 1 special guy, the 4 norms will have to take one save and the special would also take a save

However, I keep hearing it doesn't work like this, that you can put like 3 wounds on a normal guy and leave the specials untouched.

Can someone please clarify?

I thought that's how it works.
Its just I heard some they put multiple wounds on the same model without wounding anything else.

If you had a 5-man marine combat squad with a meltagun and they took like, 10 bolter wounds, each guy would have to take 2 saves (5 models/10 wounds) so you'd roll 8 saves for normal marines then 2 for the melta.

If you had 12 bolter wounds you could still have the melta take 2 saves, then the regular marines could take 10. If you had 15 saves then that's enough for 3 saves each, so the melta takes 3 then the regulars take the rest.

If you took 8 wounds from plasma guns (no save) and 2 wounds from bolters, you could put both bolter wounds on the meltagun then everyone else would get pasted by the plasma.
