Elites:

2x Dreadnought - Twin-linked plasma cannon and close-combat arm with heavy flamer

Troops:

4x 10 Tactical marines - Multi-melta and flamer
5 Scouts - 4 Sniper rifles and heavy bolter with hellfire round
4 Scouts + Telion - 3 Snipers, Stalker-pattern bolter and heavy bolter with hellfire round

Dedicated Transport:

Rhino - for tactical marines
Drop-pod - for dreadnought

I have considered using Land Speeder Storms but I'm unsure. Am I taking too many troops?

Chapter masters are not great options. They are too expensive for what you get. Go for a librarian instead, they are the best basic HQ choice in the codex.

Normal terminators really want a cyclone missile launcher as the heavy weapon, it is much better than the heavy flamer, and starts shooting from turn1.

Plasma cannon are interesting options on the dreadnoughts, and could be useful, however when dropping them multi-melta is best so they can destroy a tank if they need too on the turn that they drop. Also try and fit a 3rd drp pod in the army, so you can drop both of the dreadnoughts on turn 1.

Yes, you have far too many troops. Tactical marines are distinctly average and scouts are so-so really.

If you're going to run scouts run 1 full squad of 10 with Telion, sniper rifles and a missile launcher. It is the best combination for them. (and the only one that is really worthwhile).

In 2000pts I would run only 2 squads of tactical marines (to go with the 1 scout sqaud) with multi-melta and flamer. Rhinos for both of course. (I do actually run these unit in my 2000pt army).

I would consider bumping up the terminators to a full squad of 10 and getting 2 cyclone missile launchers.
Land speeders or predators are also pretty good options.

Hope this is useful.

I think you should play this list. You will learn about tactical squads and what units you think can help your style.

There are lots of cool units that you miss out on by picking troops.

You have very little attack really which is the issue with tac. squads.

I would have 10 men with Telion and you prolly dont need the drop pods on the dreads.

So maybe take 3 rhinos 2 filled with tacs. then Telion but otherwise buy some cooler units.

I think four tactical marine squads is a good choice for 2000 points. Maybe down grade the chapter master to a captain and put that other dreadnought in a drop pod or buy another rhino for a tactical squad.

Just to clear up, all the tacts are in rhinos and both dreads in pods. Im pretty set on running with a lot of troops but swapping the chapt master for a lib is interesting. I was planning putting my Hq with the Termies. Posted from HTC Android.
