Does a space marine scout bike's teleport homer work for a Librarian using Gate? Gate says that you bring them in following deep strike rules. The scout bike homer says that models attempting to deep strike within 6 inches don't scatter.

What happens if the Librarian is with a squad in a dedicated transport when he uses Gate. Does the transport go with him, or do he and his squad teleport out of the vehicle and onto the field?

Is the transport part of the squad? There's your answer.

And no, teleport homers don't work with GoI.

Sounds like you're confusing the teleport homer and the locator beacon.

Teleport Homers don't work for GoI, because they require the unit to be teleporting, which GoI doesn't specify.
Locator Beacons (which is what Scout Bikers have) do work for GoI, as they work for all Deep Striking.

The transport is a separate unit, so it not included in the Gate's effect.

You are correct, I thought I may have typed the wrong one, but not having my codex in front of me, I wasn't sure.

Thanks for the replies, that clears up things so I can get my list put togather... I guess the main confusion was whether a dedicated transport was considered to be part of the squad or not. As well as on GoI's description when it says that they come in LIKE they were deep striking, rather then simply saying that they deep strike... didn't know if that meant that the locator beacon could still be used with it.

Thanks again...

Dedicated transports are never considered a part of the same unit as the squad they are bought for. If they were, they would have to maintain coherency with the unit, would move at the same speed as the unit... and would be required to embark into themselves when the squad climbs aboard, thus creating a logical loop that might very well destroy the universe as we know it.

Plus, you know, there's that "Multiple Unit Choices" section on page 92 or thereabouts where it talks about how many codices give the option to select multiple units as part of a single force org slot (like a tac squad & their Rhino, or the PCS & infantry squads in an IG platoon), but those units are still all separate units in the game.

...universe imploded... I scattered my teleport into the gate... by my second librarian who was also casting gate... so they just loop forever and ever... (long ago you actually put a little "gate" marker representing either end of the gate - what if 2 of them led to each other in reverse?! aagh my head gonna blow up). I dunno.. it may have happened. Dont divide by zero kids.

Also, if dt transports were part of the unit, then SM with DP would never be able to move...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
