i am almost done building the first phase my new necron army (1 box of warriors left to build and one barge left to buy and build)

now i turn to the task of painting, i initially had chosen a rather nice scheme out of the codes, look for the deathmarks, it is the one in the top right corner of the page
however, being in the process of re-watching the re-imagined BSG series and GM'ing a BSG RPG game i thought why not a cylon necron army!

how do you guys think i should paint this up? color suggestions? tips? think i am stupid for trying?

i am also not averse to converting the eyes to look like cylon eyes as long as there is a cheap way.

One thing I'll suggest: Sometime in Feb, Mobeius Models is releasing a model of the re-imagined Cylon Raider. At a rumored $29.99 a box, I'm thinking of picking them up for the Scythe Spam list I've got in mind. They would probably work well for you too.

Going for the duller, reimaged look I take it - if it were me, I'd go for the classic shiney look - but I'm a firm believer in making my opponents groan when they see my army hit the table.

I got a Raider for sale, the old 1980's model always the best for necron. Was gonna build it as a Raider but wife said not now....price starts at $25 USD.

Was never a fan of the old raiders, and the new raiders are a better match to the codex art.

Wouldn't a cylon army basically be chrome with a red eye?

i am indeed thinking of doing the grittier re-imagined series look.
i do very much like the idea of using a raider model for the scythe as i do plan on having at least one if not more.
the thought was doing a metal look with red optics and chrome highlights.

any ideas for conversions? i would like at least some of the models to have the eye bar.

suggestions for what colors to use?
also how does one go about making the power rods on the warriors a different color? do you just paint it and not care about the transparency?

finally where can i find this new raider model??

The rods you can find loads of different colours on Ebay, I personally don't care about the transparency and paint them myself

Re-imagined Cylon Raider Kit

From the webstores I've seen with either pre-orders or "coming soon", it looks to be $30, most likely $25 discounted. That will probably be half of what GW will want for the actual Scythe kit. I've got $200 bucks sitting aside to build 5 Night Scythes out of them and 3 Doom Scythes.

The Boba Fett style Khorn Berzerker helmet looks not unlike a cylon centurion head after you shave off the bunny ears. Also, remember that centurions don't carry weapons, they're wrist mounted. I havn't worked with the newcron sets though so I don't know if that's practical.
