Hey all just looking for some advice,

I got myself some space wolves over the christmas holidays and I'm just looking some tips on how to paint them. I'm looking to get something thats not the sky / baby blue colour that codex has the wolves painted in.

How do you's paint yours?

Aside from that wonderful encyclopedia of awesomeness, I use Reaper Master Series "Twilight Blue" (#09020) found in the "Grey Blues" triad packs. The darker in the triad pack is good to base in ("Midnight Blue" #09019) and the lighter is an excellent start at highlighting ("Snow Shadow" #09021).

Good luck

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

I still have to base and add varnish but here are my wolves so far:

I wanted to go for a more darker feel.

I haven't posted in forever but here's what I got for you....

If you want something different go all gradations of grey rather than blue.

Base white
everything a dark grey
a heavy coat of black wonder wash (black mixed with future floor wash)
a heavy drybrush of a dark grey (this will actually lighten the model a bit after the wash)
a thorough drybrush of a lighter grey (this will add most of the definition and weathering you'll want)
an extremely light drybrush of white on the sharpest areas (the face mask)

after this you can weather with a radically different color on the color wheel... i'd suggest a washed out brown around the feet.

Quick, easy and it'll give you a nice fig.

I used to have pictures of them, and then I took an arrow to the knee in the form of my computer being wiped. If I had a digital camera handy, I'd take a picture. Otherwise, I went with Adeptus Battlegrey washed blue and black, drybrushed with Codex for armor above the knee. Black drybrushed with Adeptus Battlegrey below the knee. Spacewolves Grey just looked too much like white to me, so I went with Ultramarines Blue heavily drybrushed with Spacewolves over it for the trim on the shoulders, aquilas and other accessories. If you get nothing from this except that grey heavily washed with blue looks really cool, then my job is done.

It's an ugly planet. A bug planet.
