I bought some inks and some colors from Vallejo game color line recently in my attempt to switch from gw bottles. I would like to ask for tips on how to successfully use these.

Les from awesome paint job seems to always mix it 1:1 with a diluted flow aid. I am currently having a 1:10 flow aid medium to use. Am I going down the right track? Is there other tips on how to use these colors?

Paint is paint. It all works the same. I always dilute brand new paints with 10:1 water:flo aid mix in the bottle. I also add slo-dri to it so that it lasts longer on my palette.

I use a wet palette so I don't use slow dry. I find gw paint to be already diluted since adding one drop of flow aid mixed is already too much.

most vallejo paints are thicker than GW in my experience so they need to be diluted a bit.

People get too caught up with flow aid, retarder, thinning to ratios, distilled water, etc, etc. Just try painting with paint, thinned a touch with tap water, get a feel for it and experiment with that first before all the fancy products. Saying that, given your in texas, you might need retarder in the summer months if your wet pallet cant cope with the heat.

The only things to watch out for with vallejo are not squeezing too hard in case you have a blockage and you spray paint everywhere (use a pin or something to clear it if you have) and some colours need a damn good shake before you use them.
