ok guys im asking this becuase i went to a mini tournament in nyc and they told me i couldnt play with some of my guys because i put their bolters on their left had instead. i also had a bolt pistol o the left hand and the ccw in the right and they also told me i coouldnt play with them either. they told me there is a rule about where the weapons can and cant be placed at. i seriously need to know if this is true. thank you

There are rules to how many weapons or what weapons a model may have (basically what weapons they actually have) but no rules whatsoever about which hand they are in. Not even rules for them being in their hand even, holstered or sheathed weapons are fine.

Not only that, but the nature of what they did seems to imply that they intentionally tried to mess with you and/or screw you over.

yea all had 12 KB with a boltpistol in each hand while one sword in their steathes and 5 CSM had his bolter held on his left hand while his right hand held the barrel part.

As long as the model has what he's equipped with in your army list, (aka WYSIWYG) it doesn't matter which hand each weapon is in.

Given that GW's own models come with weapons in either hand, how anyone would think that they have to be in one specific hand is rather beyond me.

I can't help wondering if this was simply a misinterpreted joke.

no it wasnt a joke becuase i couldnt even play with them and im deff aint going over there no more

When this sort of thing happens, just say "really? show me this rule." Don't be an ass, just ask to see the rule in a polite manner. When they can't produce the rule, kindly pack up your stuff, call them pricks, and leave. Or shove it in their faces and play with them. Either way.

I think you should return with an entirely left-handed army. Possibly with each model's right hand making obscene gestures.

It'll take some time and effort, but it might feel cathartic afterwards.

Firstly, when someone offers an unbelievable sounding rule ask them to show it you the appropriate section of the rulebook/codex.

Secondly, I think you should name and shame what tournament & venue this was.

Dude, that sucks. There is no rule in the BGB or other codex books that specify hand placement of weapons, but if the TO wants to implement one, it is his tourney.

That said, don't play with these guys again. Fething squig for brains aren't worth your time.

Punch them in the bollocks with your right hand and say, "Hey, look - both my hands work for close combat. Must be true of my space Marines as well."

This kind of stuff really makes me sick and gives gaming in general a bad name. We're a community with limited membership, why would we destroy what we helped build by being mean to new/returning members? If you keep doing that then players aren't going to return or play and that's good for nobody.

Put the name of the group up online so we know who to avoid.

Without getting into anything melodramatic:

As has already been stated, it doesn't matter what hand your model happens to be holding a particular weapon in. As long as the weapon or wargear is represented on the model it should be fine for use on the gaming table.

I have half a mind, after this thread, to fashion "bolt pistol hats".

If you really want to know names, you should PM the OP, and not antagonize the Administratum.

I'm not about naming names, because that will only lead down a slippery slope. I agree that anyone who really wants to know should just PM the OP.

However, I would LOVE to see a proper battle report written up for your tournament:

I've got a mini I kit-bashed that is doing the "buddy christ" two handed finger point with his weapon on his back.

He has empty hands and I've never had a problem with him.

I've heard douchey things said to players and then I've heard this. It doesn't matter if it's in his left hand, right hand, mounted on his middle finger, mounted on a servo arm jutting from his backpack or mounted in his actual chest, as long as it's WYSIWIG then you're fine.

This has to be one of the stupidest tourney calls I've ever heard of. Tell them thanks but no thanks and don't bother going back. They're idiots and if they get that wrong, who knows what other pieces of inasanity they have in their pointy little heads.
