I picked up 15 melta guns off GW so I can finally finish up my guard army. So I get to modding them and run into a few issues with the size of it. I've tried messing with the right arm that's holding a lasgun. I cut off the las and put the melta on. It's too long so I cut off the butt stock (plastic ones don't have buttstock anyways). Well, at that point the gun is still a bit larger than a las so the head has an issue fitting unless I mod it a bit.

So, in short, after taking off the space marine hand the meltagun is still tricky to model on a guardsmen. You guys have any idea for how I can set up guardsmen to where they might have it somewhere else like a sling or something? I can use some of the arms, like the outstretched ones, but I only have so many of those.

You can take open hands and try removing the hand from the meltagun and find a different right arm.

Or try the GL arms, thats what I am doing. I just remove the stock from the meltagun and try to carve a hole int he shoulder pad, it actually looks pretty good. Then pick any left hand, outstretched with the handle looks pretty good here.

Take the Lasgun and cut off the stock from the shoulder to the carriage. Cut off the magazine. Cut off the barrels. Take the Keltagun and cut off the melta-bit and maybe the small promethium tank (if your ambitious). Glue the melta-bit to the end of the gun and the tank wherever it will fit. The IG hands and arms will fit normally.
This is a trial bash I put together using a bit of plastic tube instead of the melta-bit.
