I was curious to see what people managed to get done over the Christmas break in between endless relatives and turkey sandwiches? Finished making a model? Get something painted at last? Or simply enjoyed playing a few games?

Yesterday, I finished putting together my Annihilation Barge which Mrs Flashman got me for Christmas. Quite an easy kit to make, although the pilot's arm with the tracker ball didnt quite reach the console I had to carefully cut it at the elbow so I could adjust the positioning. Fits perfectly now though

Aside from that I've been slowly painting orc boyz for my 2012 project - a game of Warhammer between two completely painted armies on a fully modelled battlefield - for which I've also started putting together some goblin archers

Finally, I played a couple of games of Warhammer Quest with a old gaming buddy.

Built and primed one of Machinator's jetbikes, built yet another Malifaux crew (the Kirai box), finished the first test model for my WHFB Nurgle Maurader army and finally really got to work on my Protectorate of Menoth army (still need a lot more models though). Also helped a mate who's not that great at building models put together the first parts of his Khador army.

Oh and I had to bodge a side investigation into the Dark Heresy game I've been running for a few months because half of my players didn't turn up. I really could have done with more warning than a few minute before we were due to start. Still I just about got everything right and my players seemed to be happy as they managed to set fire to a Tech Priest, blow an arm off a Bishop and steal an Arvus Lighter.

Ive ordered some parts, but no actual assembly or painting. We are getting ready for a long distance move (in about 6 weeks) so most of my hobby stuff is packed away...though Im having some withdrawals, so I may need to take it back out and do a little bit.

I planned to do a lot more, but I ended up spending lots of my free time assembling Super Dungeon Explore models.

I did clean and assemble some new models for Heavy Gear Blitz! I also assembled and based a Forest Goblin Warband for Mordheim. Finally, I've spent a lot of time painting a dwarf crossbowman from Red Box Games for a friend of mine.

I've tried to push the limits of my painting skills with the dwarf model and so far it is coming out pretty darn well. A few more hours polishing off details and it'll be done.

Just got done assembling two OOP NIB Dark Eldar Raiders. (Holding for the jealousy to simmer...), 5 finecast Wracks (I wanted them for their abilities on paper, and am disregarding that they all look like Iggy Pop in a gimp mask wearing a raggedy skirt and flip-flops.) They're irritatingly brittle and I'm not sure I'll ever be done trimming all the flash, and a Razorwing jet fighter. That thing was a royal pain in the ass to put together, but it was worth the headache. I still have 5 Hellions in the box, but I think that I might just stick them in my DE bitz.

I painted my Annihilation Barge and assembled some Immortals and a Doomsday Arc.

I did manage to get one game in, even though we didn't have time to finish it. It was a 3000pt Cities of Death battle. fun, but 3000pts was very optimistic for the time we had.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

Played a game of 40k. Managed to tie against BA at 1850. I did pretty well considering he knocked out all my heavy support before they could fire. Gotta love melta spam.

Also primed all my assembled cadians, black templar, and cygnar. Painted a test mini for the Cadians, and started painting the squad to go with it.

Most importantly, I organized my modelling stuff. We will see how long that will last though.

Almost done my British Rifle company and Armored Squadron. I've also begun painting my Germans. I'm a little apprehensive about hand painting the camouflage (most people I see do it with an airbrush) but we'll see about that.

Played a couple of small games of Flames of War against a friend, trying out the Reluctant Veteran Armoured Squadron list. I never realized how nasty Cromwells could be in that list.

Also managed to play a few games of Warmachine with my battlebox Cryx vs. a friend's battlebox Menoth. I sort of stomped him in the first two games, but by the third he got a hang of the game and completely tore apart my 'jacks before going after my Caster. Now he's gone out and bought a Choir. Looks like I'll be picking up the Cryx paint set in the near future as well. Lucky thing that I've still got two more weeks of break left, yeah?

I assembled the miniatures I was given for Christmas over the week I had off from work. I go back to work on the 3rd so I have one more day to hopefully get some painting in.

Depressingly little, but then I've been at work all day every day - and moving house hasn't helped either I've managed to finish and base 3 companies of uruk-hai pikemen, Lurtz and Saruman, and am re-reading the Eisenhorn trilogy. Should have a lot more time for the hobby this month

I cleaned, assembled, primed, and mostly painted a very inexpensive Nurgle Daemon Prince model (its the fugly GW one, but like I said, it was quite cheap for me, so I can put up with it.. it was a tester model for my upcoming Plague army)

I also FINALLY finished my Leman Russ Executioner tank, that had been sitting on my desk for about 3 months (only thing i had to do was paint the camo, and guns, as it was already done in its base color).

I worked on painting the bounty hunter model for my game, as a painting tutorial blog post I'm putting together, and worked on some of the MDF sarisa buildings also. But, I didn't get as much hobby stuff done as I wanted to, since I signed up for Netflix for my Apple TV and I've been glued to the sofa burning through the first 3 seasons of Breaking Bad for the last few days... but now what do I do? buy the 4th season for $25 on iTunes? or wait for however long it takes for it to come to netflix? can't decide...

Well, spent the last day of leave putting together an Junkers Ju88 Airfix model (I do like German WW2 aircraft for some reason)...

...and you thought Finecast was bad. Pretty much every piece is miscast. Not by a massive amout, but enough to warrant a bit of greenstuff work on every join. The clear pieces for the cockpit were particularly awful.

Despite this, it made for a nice change from GW stuff and had me feeling slightly nostalgic. I even sliced my thumb open, just like the good old days

For my last day off I also put some thing together - an Ikea Wardrobe for the Mrs

This counts as it is her hobby, no not the furniture, the wasting my valuble hobby time with mundane tasks about the house.

Back at work now for a rest.
