Hello & welcome to Brighton Warlords
40k TITANS tournament
The idea of this event is to all use those super heavy vehicles or gargantuan creatures we bought when apocalypse was released in a competitive setting.
Army Selection
Each army should be 2250 pts in size, and should contain a single (normally) Super heavy Vehicle or Gargantuan Creature. Note that this is not compulsory to use one in your army, but you will lose points if you don't take one.
this tournament will use a modified force organization chart as follows:
1-2
HQ
0-3 Elites
2-6 Troops
0-3 Fast Attack
0-3 Heavy support
0-1 Super Heavy/Gargantuan Creature
Note that if a Super Heavy/Gargantuan Creature is no chosen then an extra Elites, Fast attack and heavy support option will become available.
If the Super Heavy/Gargantuan Creature is listed as taking up a specific slot, this will be ignored and it will instead count as taking up the Super Heavy/Gargantuan Creature slot.
The following list shows which Super Heavys/Gargantuan Creatures may be taken with which army. up to three units with a * by their name may be taken (sorry about this):

The tournament rules
You will need to bring along 2 copies of your army roster (if you haven’t already put the army list onto the forum or e-mailed it to me). You will also need your Painted miniatures, tape measures, dice, templates & any additional rules and equipment you think you might need, such as super glue. If you are using something from the Apocalypse or Imperial Armour books, you must have a copy of the rules with you. Do not rely on the club's copy being there on the day! Remember to bring any relevant
FAQs with you too.
Scenery shall be placed at the start of the day. Please refrain from moving bits around. If it has been moved or you think it doesn't look right, ask the tournament referee and he will arrange it.
The missions and deployment type will be chosen from the
40k rulebook (capture and control, seize ground) as well as two additional missions (not yet chosen) from ether spearhead or battle missions. Kill points will be used to determine the winner in the case of a draw.
A super Heavy vehicle will concede a single kill point for each structure point lost.
A Gargantuan Creature will concede a single kill point for every 2 wounds lost.
You will gain tournament points for:
Generalship - You will score:
30 for a win,
15 for a draw in your favour (decided by kill points)
10 for a dead draw (when kill points are even)
5 for a draw against you (decided by kill points)
1 for a loss
0 for conceding.
You will need to total up the victory points you scored against your opponents for final placing purposes.
Additional Rules
-a player may have no more then 4 destroyer shots per turn, this includes templates etc, this is to avoid armies being wiped out too quickly! this does not include titan close combat weapons (watch out for those stompas!)
-Vortex Based weapons may not be used
-A gargantuan creature attacked by a Destroyer weapon loses D3 wounds per hit (rolled for after saves).
-Flyers do not have any affect on objectives unless they are in hover mode.
-only units that are at least 10 models strong may score objectives, the exception to this rule is units like deathwing which can only have 5 models maximum.
The following units also gain the flyer rules:
-Valkyrie/vendetta
-Storm Raven (as much as I hate this model!)
-Razorwing (the plane, not the beasts!)/Void Raven
-Night scythe/Doom Scythe
The following units gain the
AA mount special rule (this is to ballance out the potential game breaking rules of flyers outside of apocalypse):
-Hydra flak tank
-Hive Guard
-All flyers!
-Broadside Battlesuits
Eldar flyers with the Eldar Titan holo fields special rule will instead gain a 3+ cover save (treated as the save for moving flat out) and a 4+ invun save.
Soft Scores
Soft score points will be broken down as follows:
Super Heavy/Gargantuan Creature: 30 points
If your army contains one or more Super heavy vehicle or gargantuan creature you will receive an additional 30 points, this is equal to a win and is therefore very important.
Army Roster - 7 points
The army list must add up to 2250 points or less (if not, you will get no points for roster). It needs to be legible and clearly laid out. Your combined army list also needs to be submitted by the Monday 30th January at midnight. If it contains mistakes, you will have a chance to correct it (but only if you get in early enough for me to check). You can post lists up on the forum & this is to be encouraged. Also you will not gain the soft score points if you do not have your own copy of a clearly legible army list on the days of the event!
Painted - 10 points
Every model in the combined army must have a basic paintjob of 3 colours or more on the model without undercoat showing. If this is not the case for every model, the combined army will get 0 points for painted.
Detailed - 7 points
Every model in the combined army must be painted to a good-to-high standard, and each separate force needs to have a suitably coherent paintjob.
To get the 'Detailed' soft score, all models must have:
- painted highlights on armour, skin, plates etc.
- details such as eyes, hair, grenades, knives, pouches etc. must be painted.
- Squad markings. Every unit needs to be clearly marked as so that your opponent can tell them apart. Squads with dedicated transports need to have unified markings on them. Examples of squad markings included: different colours on the base edges, numbers on each squad, the same coloured right shoulder or something similar.
The 'Detailed' soft score will not be given to combined armies that have 3 colours & a wash, or a similarly simplistic paintjob with a bit of highlighting. The combined army needs to look like a good deal of effort has been put into it, even if your personal painting standard is not amazing.
Objectives - 3 points
You must have 5 painted objective markers on round bases. These must be army-specific to either force in the combined army and must look like suitable battlefield objectives. Dice, gemstones or unpainted objectives will not count for this soft score.
Based - 7 points
Every model that comes with a base must be mounted on it throughout the tournament (e.g. skimmers and walkers). Every base needs to be textured and painted in some manner, including clear flying bases. Every model in the combined army must fufill this criteria to get the soft score.
WYSIWYG - 6 points
Every model must be modelled with the equipment that is listed on its profile, including vehicles. For instance a Chaos Marine would need a boltgun, boltpistol, close combat weapon, frag & krak grenades.
This soft score is supposed to be notoriously difficult to gain. It rewards those who put extra effort into modelling their armies to match the army lists. If any model in the combined army is not
WYSIWYG, you will get no points for
WYSIWYG.
Soft scores total to 70 extra points, which is equal to a win & a draw. If you want to win the tournament, you will need to put a fair amount of effort into the soft scores as well as simply smashing skulls in!
The 'Thanks but no thanks' award
(The alternative nickname is a little strongly-worded!)
If two or more of teams give clear and valid reasons why they had a particularly unpleasant game against another team, the team in question will probably be docked 30 points for unsporting conduct.
The reasons will have to be explained to the Tournament Referee. The most common example would be dishonest or unscrupulous gaming behaviour. Teams will not be docked points just because you don't like them; there needs to be a valid reason. Any teams caught blatantly cheating will probably be asked to leave the event.
Other bits
With Fifth Edition rules being how they are, the tournament generally runs itself. We will still be using all the up-to-date
FAQs from Games Workshop which you should bring with you. If there are any problems regarding rules questions, feel free to call me over the tournament referee.
A note on counts as models. Recently at the singles
40k event we had some necrons turn up with some 'Triach Stalkers' There is currently no models for them but there is a picture & so they are the same size as a defiler/soul grinder for line of sight purposes. This goes for everything else. I.e. You can't use old ork trucks. You have to use the newest size model that are in production. Other people use Land raiders as ork Battlewagons. This seriously increases their front arc & will not be accepted. You will have to use the standard ork battlewagon template. Also sometimes people don't want to spent £10 or so per fiend! So use other plastic cheaper models (which is fair enough) though when it comes to line of sight the 'Real' fiend model needs to be used. This is common sense really. No modelling for advantage!
I look forward to seeing as many people as possible.
Prizes will awarded for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place & Best Combined Army.
Good luck!
