Okay, I've gone ahead and used the funds from my eBay sales to finance the purchase of a Phantom Titan from Forge World (Power Glaive and Pulsar). My plan is to make this a Dark Eldar titan and I've got some ideas on what to do about that. Still, there are some questions I'd like answers for before the kit arrives.

1. Does the Phantom come with only the Dire Avergers style face plate? Or does it also have the Dark Eldar looking face plate the way the Revenant does?

2. I'm looking around the net for people's completed projects but so far most are using the same boring, static poses. Does anyone have a link to some more interesting builds/conversions/WIP? If so, would you PM them to me (posting them here is probably a violation of rules).

3. My current plan is to build up a small building from the Imperial Sector kit and have the Phantom walking through it. I'd like to do a little advance planning if possible, so does anyone know the dimensions of the base?

It only comes with the one faceplate.

Something i learned when i bought mine. the weapon arms do not come with the hands, the body does. So all weapons are interchangable, on either side of the body. so you could pin/magnetize the elbow and wrist and swap weapons whenever you want..

The feet were a serious pain to assemble. 12 some odd pieces per foot, all the peices were poseable.

the phantom does not come with a base. I ended up buying a 12x9 wood plaque and mounted him on that.

I modeled mine as the boring static pose, because i wanted it as tall as possible.

In this picture, the bicep portion of the arm plugs into the weapon, and the hand holding the weapons handle are seperate from the weapon, which makes it so you can change them up if you model them right

And this is before i painted it, to show you the wood plaque i mounted it onto (other de stuff for scale)

Ive put together both the phantom and the reaver. the reaver was very easy to pose due to the low amount of pieces in the legs. This thing on the other hand has a large number of pieces per foot (not as many as a reaver/warhound but those are very static pieces) and it was very difficult to get it to pose even having the feet flat on the plaque.

Good luck, look forward to pics when your done. Love this model.

Thanks. I'll try to investigate what I can do for a 9"x12" oval that doesn't sit too high off the table. Really sad that I'm going to have to cover that face plate in a big wad of greenstuff.

Okay, I'm bumping this thread because I need some help getting a suitable base for this thing. I had an order for a small oval cutting board by Totally Bamboo which seemed to fit what I wanted really well. Unfortunately the guys shipped me a different cutting board and everywhere I search for this same board leads me back to the same sucky guys who stuck me with a board I didn't want or need.

So, is there anyone who knows where I can get something like a 9" x 12" board to base this thing on? I'd like to keep it as thin as possible. Wood, plastic, or acrylic are fine. I'm thinking that fake stone (corinan?) is probably not a good idea as it may not machine or glue well. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

If they shipped you a different cutting board, email them and complain. You ordered one thing, and they shipped another.

I did. Amazon (who was basically a middleman here) cancelled the transaction and is issuing me a refund. Email from the guys at Totally Bamboo who sold me the board via Amazon has been next to non-existent. I'm basically going to write them off as a lost cause. What I need now are alternatives.

Have you considered going to a hardware shop (Don't know what the brand names are in the US) and buying chipboard or something, cutting it up yourself?

Particleboard and a major chain is LOWES (I learned this from watching too many US/Canadian made home reno shows).

Try a craft shop. They often have wooden plaques of the right size - otherwise getting a trophy maker to cut you out the right size plaque (or you could DIY with a jigsaw and particleboard.)

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
