Subject: 900 points of Tomb Kings, what should I get next?

I posted this on the Khemri forum as well, but thought I'd see if any one here on Dakka has an opinion...
I have small collection of Tomb Kings I am hoping to grow.
Here's the list I have now. It's a weird point total -- 915 -- made to match another beginner's small dwarf army. It's also every model I own.
Lvl 2 Liche Priest (11%)
Tomb Prince w/The blade of Antarhak (16%)
Prince Apophas (14%)
Three Chariots (18%)
16 Skeleton Warriors w/spears, shields, musician, standard (10%)
10 Tomb Guards w/musician, standard, captain, halberds (19%)
Scorpion (9%)
----
I am not sure the list is legal with three heroes in a small force. I used the same army minus Apophas against a skaven army and won. That was their inaugural battle. The prince was with the skeleton warriors so they inherited his weapon skill.
I really want to get a necroshphinx and some stalkers - mainly because those are the models I want to build and paint. Also my tomb prince is actually the finecast necrotect model, and I'd like him to be a necrotect some time.
Any advice on what to get next? I'd love to have as few skeleton warriors as possible, and more animated constructs, mainly because I don't want to build more warrior models.

Unfortunately I think you're stuck with Warriors, or at least Archers, for Core. Maybe try Skeleton Horse Archers or Cavalry instead? More expensive per-points, so...
I'm loving the constructs myself. Going for a shooty list with GB Ushabti, BotD NecroColossus and a ton of Archers with Khalida.

Warsphinx!!!! At your low point value a T8 monster will be unbeatable. You arent going to see many cannons at 1000 points and that's right about the only thing which can deal with the sphinx.
Use Prince Apophas as a Necrotect if your friends will let you. He's ok but the points are better spent elsewhere.
If it'll help you decide where to go In general this is what my list looks like around 2000-2500 points
Tomb King w/ Destroyer of Eternities
Lvl 4 LP (Heiro) Lore of Nehe, dispel scroll
Tomb Herald BSB with Undying Legion banner
Necrotect with Obsidian lodestone
Lvl 1 LP lore of Nehe
46 warriors with shields and spears
19 warriors with bows
Units of: 9 chariots, 8 horse archers, 5 heavy horse depending on my mood. These are used to march block, screen and harass except for the chariots who are used to try and flank. Needless to say the chariots are only fielded at higher point values - at 2K I'm using horse.
3 (yes 3!) Warsphinx
2 Screaming Skull Catapults
1 Casket of Souls.
The Tomb King, lvl 1, Necrotect and BSB all walk with skeletons in Horde formation.
Your probably thinking "What is the point of a lvl 1"? So the biggest problem with that death star unit is the fact it's slow as death!!! 4" move means you won't get into melee unless they come to you, and even then you're getting charged. Without Desert Wind going off at least once in turn 1 and turn 2 you lack the mobility for that unit to be where you want it to be. Your lvl 1 is there purely to cast desert wind.
The rest is pretty standard.
The one thing I have to speak against are Ushabti - point for point they are not effective. That and you take away from your Warsphinx which is really one of the most competitive units in the entire army list (And one of the strongest monsters in the game because of its high toughness and Thunder crush.)

Thanks for the replies! Im thinking of getting a Battalion box to add enough infantry muscle and some archers to my army.
But I can't resist going to the Warsphinx first. 2000V - do you put your king on one of them or load them all with Tomb Guards? It seems like adding the king to a unit is a really good thing because of the "my will be done" rule. But I like the image of a king on on a war sphinx.

I've been ||this close to buying a Warsphinx kit- not only for the Sphinxs, but because it apparently comes with a torso and extra heads, which I'd immediately repurpose into a Necrolith Colossus. Two for the price of one!

I know you want to minimize skellies, but a block of fifty is a good point to anchor a line. Something you could do is use ushabti as unit filler in the skellies. Ushabti are a soft option as far as usefulness in a list goes, so having some interspersed in a big unit of infantry can give you an opportunity to include some of these cool models in your army. Four ushabti will take up the same space as a box of skellies, and will allow you to have a big block of infantry without painting quite so many models.
I really enjoyed painting my war sphinx models. They are vulnerable to war machines and all, but if you want to focus on constructs, that is something you will have to deal with anyway. The stalkers were a little disappointing as far as modeling/painting. They look cool once finished, but they rank high on my list of 'models that were frustrating to paint.'
If you are feeling bold, you could get out your green stuff and your rotary tool and convert some bone giants. Give them weapon options, or even hive one some flowing tattered robes and a big staff and call it a hierotitan. One-of-a-kind models could make for a cool center piece in a low model construct army.
hope that helps,
-Jim

Or if you're looking for Giants, I'm planning on doing a line of mix-'n-match limbs, torsos and such- including one with an Egyptian feel.
