Hey,

I have recently painted up some guardsmen and from the response from my peers i though i should put up a tut to show how i did it

What's needed:

Dessert yellow
Kommando Khaki
Devlan mud
Tallern flesh
Catachan green
Boltgun metal
Calthan brown
snakebite leather
Chaos black
Skull white
Sand
Fake Snow

Stage By Stage:

[Thumb - P1010061.JPG]
Spray Chaos Black

[Thumb - P1010063.JPG]
roughly cover all the areas which are cloth dessert yellow

[Thumb - P1010064.JPG]
use the catachan green for the armour and front of gun

[Thumb - P1010066.JPG]
Use tallern flash for skin, calthan brown for boots and stock

And for the rest of it:

For The base you Apply where you want the snow, then apply the sand in where the snow didn't cover, use a brush and paint the stone black it really dosen't matter too much if ypu get it on the snow, it just gives it a dirty look. Then make the mix a 1.1 mix of white and black and drybrush, and then 2.1 white and black drybrush finally.

The reason you do the sand last is because it gives the snow a dirty look as explained before.

Devlan mud wash over everything and the highlight everything with their basecoat colour, apart from the cloth which you highlight with Kommand Khaki.

All done :)

Its quite a fast technique but the pics wont help tell if the end result is good or not. It'd be nice if you could post better quality pics

I will see if I can get better pics, it might sound like a lot of colours but you really use hardly and for each model

This isn't the fastest way to do it but is still successful. The way to speed the process up is have all the body's and heads in one pile and spray them the colour you want them to be. get the rest of the stuff except the gun and spray them what colour you want them to be the touch up the cloth bits with what the cloth colour was and touch the armoured bits up with the armour colour. This is after you have undercoated the model. Sorry for thread jacking it will just speed the process up more. sorry if you don't get the explanation of it.

I don't think I've ever had to roll an armour save for my boyz outside of CC "

Or you could do it this way which saves you the money of buying an airbrush and even so, it's fast enough

Use spray paint? it costs 3.50 in australia and we get stuff twice as expensive as you guys. So it's works out cheaper than using the paint that gw sells.
