Hey there all. I have 2 GW cases that I'll be passing along to friends as I'm changing my armies storage option. Both of them have one clip that has broken off, though I have the clips still. I did some searching, but my Google-Fu failed me. Has anyone already attempted a repair on a GW case? If so, any pics or some quick tips on what you did? Thanks!

What had happened with mine was that the hinge had broken off, but the broken bit was still trapped in the hole. I tried gluing it back to the main clip with plastic glue, but this failed badly, you just can't see well enough to make sure that it attaches to the right part of the clip. Wouldn't reccomend this method.

@Skippy: At work, the hinge/clip part is at home. I have the broken case next to me though, if you'd like a quick pic of that?
@Crazyrossboy: I believe you're thinking I'm talking about the large GW case. Unfortunately, I'm not. I'm talking about 2 smaller GW cases. The single large one I have has no issues yet.

Mine did that as well. I took the lid completely off, cut one of the remaining parts of the hinge on the same side and got a wooden dowell rod the same diameter and long enough to go through. Been using the repaired case over a year now and no further issues. Did cuss for a bit as it initially broke in the parking lot spreading over 130 Orks all over the place. All but about 15 were damaged in that massacre. Only ended up not being able to find one head.

Just showing the broken part on the case would be a help if you can.

Cussing appears to be a recurring theme when this type of thing happens spilling Orks all over the floor , the worst damaged ones appear to be the metal ones though.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try extracting the end of the hinge from the hole using my pinning drill and then see if I can find a dowell somewhere, should't be too hard to get hold of one, although at that size they'll probably come in a pack. Thanks!

thats such a high stress point I dont think theres any easy way to repair that.
Some kind of strap is probably your best option like someone else said. You could duck tape a strap round the case with one of the side release plastic buckles like you have on backpacks to open and close it. You wouldnt have a loose strap getting lost then

You might just be able to duct tape it.
Just put the clip on where it would be in a closed position, then add some duct tape. : )

well, it's ABS so forget about getting glue to actually do anything - that case is basically a write-off.
or just in need of a handy strap. whatever takes your fancy

There are specialist glues for ABS. Epoxy is okay, superglue is no good.

IF it's not older than six months or so, GW should replace it - they're the kings of expensive, not the kings of ripping off the customer.
I got a box that I bought from Wayland games replaced at my local GW. Admittedly, I didn't mention that it was from wayland, though I don't think it would've made much difference.
