Subject: Wolds, useful?

I'm considering starting Hordes and I've been looking a little at Circle Orboros - however, that depends on if the various animated warbeasts are useful. Are they (Woldwarden, Wold Wyrd, Megalith, etc)? They are the main thing I like with that faction, the beasts (warpwolf and the like), not so much. So, would it be possible to build a usable circle battlegroup, with animated stones and trees as main theme?

Everything is usable. You'll want to get out of that mentality if you'll be playing WM/H.

The Warden, Guardian, and especially Megalith are all good beasts, though, like anything, some casters are going to be better with them than others.
Baldur for sure, Kruegar, and Mohsar come to mind.
As for the other constructs, the Wyrd is a real situational toolbox type beast that finds his way into a few lists, and I've never seen anyone run the Watcher.

He's run a lot in my local meta. Shield Guard on a ranged oriented model with ARM 21 is great, and he's got one of the best defensive animi in the game.

I could see him maybe as filler in higher point games, but that 2 fury on a beast is hard to over look, at least at his cost.

He's a ranged beast with ROF 1. He rarely needs more than 2 Fury, although it occasionally comes up if he's in full-on defensive mode.

I agree that while the Woldwatcher isn't very common, it is more dependent on meta than anything else. There tend to be two schools of thought - cover my bases and keep myself safe, or play very offensively and deal with threats before my defenses would actually be needed. Depending on the swing of the meta in your area, you'll tend to see more defensive tech pieces like Woldwatchers, Devours, and Sentinels if that is how things fall out. Look for people who are really good at ranged assassinations for this sort of thing to develop.

Wold Guardian is very helpful. It's great with casters who buff ARM, has a very good animus, and synergizes with some casters handily. It's seen most common in Baldur1 and Krueger2's Themed forces for hard-hitters, as well as with Kromac and Morvahna as attrition pieces.
The Woldwarden is kind of losing favor for me a bit, personally. I take them, historically, for a source of free spells via Geomancy. If a caster has a spell you want to carpet-bomb or cycle a lot, then it's great, but Gallows Groves make you think on whether you want the free spell or the projection power. For Mohsar, Morvahna, Krueger1, and Baldur2, I think that Gallows Groves and Megalith do that job better. That said, it is possible that if you want one Geomancer (and Itend to) and you can't use Megalith for some reason, it's a useful substitute. It is an awful combat beast, though, and be aware it cannot cover your bases there often.
Woldwatcher is very niche. I don't use it hardly at all. It is outright anti-synergistic with a couple warlocks who'd want it (Morvahna, Cassius, and Kromac) since it works against some of their main rules (Harvest, soul-gathering, Warpath). That said, there's more auto-knockdown a bit lately, and it helps protect the more fragile casters. I see it coming up more with say, Baldur2 and Kromac, as the meta shifts.
Woldwyrds I think are not a bad 5pt beast and I have used them in lists. It really is a niche critter, but with Gallows Groves, I might take that instead of a Woldwarden for a second Geomancer, and the gun on them is pretty sweet.
Megalith is probably one of the best warbeasts in Circle. It has the FURY stat to let it actually do its jobt better than above, and beat things up. Weight of Stone and its animus are great. And auto-healing means it helps warlock fury management and also lets you not worry about a ssytem going out and not being able to help it if your caster isn't Baldur. Shows up in a lot of lists, and I would take it before a Woldwarden whenever the case is, personally. YOu get a lot for the 2pts you pay for him.
And stuff.

It really is. On feat turn you're pretty much Unkillable.

Wolds are amazing.
Wold Guardian gives you defense and targeted slams.
Wold Warden gives you spell casting.
Wold Wyrd helps prevent spellcasting and can eat buffed up units.
I hate Wolds so much.
