hey all
I have just started painting recently and have been happy using fiddlybits matte black for a cheap undercoat alternative.
I then went looking for a white undercoat and tried - Duluxe interior\exterior flat white and it layed down like a foam fire retardant ... so thick and gloopy.
Recently I tried what others here have recommended, White knight squirts and at first it looked great but after a second light spray I checked it out properly and it felt grainy, not at all smooth like the fiddly-bits black.
Now, I thought that I shook the crap outta the can, but maybe not enough for the second coat?
I used an old Space Crusade mini for the trial and then put some colour on it - the metallic paint looks fine (it's a bit thicker I guess) but the straight GM colour is a little patchy after the first coat and it seemed to be taking a heap of paint to get coverage ... really a lot more than normal.
Any thoughts?
I have just <ouch> grabbed a can of GW skull white </ouch> to try tonight and see what it come out like - I have never used a GW spray or Army Painter spray so I thought I had better try to get an idea of what I was looking for in a cheap alternative. In AU I cannot find Krylon or Duplicolor (although I did find a single can of Duplicolor silver primer at a Supa-Cheap Auto) but Mrs Feet was at Bunnings and grabbed me a can of the White Knight Squirts.
So, what do other Aussies use as an alternative to GW\Army Painter?
If you use Squirts, have you come across this grainy texture and if so wtf?
cheers
