If they change Red Gore or Scab Red much I'm going to be annoyed.
Red Gore is just burgundy with the usual goofy GW Warhammer themed name. Trust me, somewhere on earth someone will still be making burgundy model paint even if it's not GW.

GW has done a lot of things most of us customers aren't happy about in the past couple years, but I can't believe people are complaining about this so vociferously. More color choices from any hobby company is a good thing to me and I can live with name changes, GW paint names have always been "goofy" GW related names for conventional colors anyway. Who cares that burgundy is Red Gore or white is Skull White, I know it when I see it regardless of what crazy Warhammer name GW has given it. No matter what they call it, white is still white, khaki is still khaki, etc. As for the colors that are more unique to GW's paint range, this isn't the first time nor will it be the last that they've monkeyed with altering some colors a bit and you just have to learn to live with it like anything else in life that's mutable. I have every version of their bright green color ever made, they are all really similar, but they are also all slightly different from each other. Change is a constant, if this is the first time you've been through this get used to it because it won't be the last.

You've missed my point, while some GW colors are unique to their range standard colors like burgundy and khaki are always the same. I used Krylon Burgundy spray paint and Krylon Khaki to base coat my Space Marine and Imperial Guard armies respectively, then did hand painting as needed using Citadel Red Gore and Kommando Khaki respectively where needed to match and match they most certainly did. Those are standard colors that are pretty identical no matter who makes them. Everyone expects khaki to be khaki, not some weird variant, if it is a variant it won't be called khaki.

And as I already said regarding the GW unique colors (e.g., their non-standard varying shades of grey, brown, blue, green, red, etc.), they've changed several times in the 2+ decades I've been at this, get used to it, it's happened before and it will likely happen again.

April 7 I believe is the date my local Battle Bunker manager was passing along to customers.

I had a chance to try out the sample jars they had at the store starting this past Saturday. Very nice. If you like model painting it's a great new selection of products and colors, really useful stuff.

Has anyone done a proper review of the Textures yet? Particularly curious about the "snow" texture paint.

I tried out the Citadel texture paint last weekend. It's very similar in coarseness to the Vallejo Black Lava product. If you buy textured medium at the craft/art store (e.g., Michael's in the USA) it is a medium coarseness by comparison. The advantage of the Citadel Textures is of course that they are offered in a variety of colors unlike most textured media. That can save you having to "paint the paint" a different base color after using it. Unfortunately, it does not compare well to other textured media in price, one can purchase a large jar of other textured paints for a fraction of the per ounce price that you'll pay for the tiny Citadel jars at $3.70/each, but for small projects the Citadel Textures offer wonderful variety. In other words, if you need to texture large areas then the Citadel Texture colors would be somewhat cost prohibitive, but for smaller projects they have good quality and color variety and are an excellent tool.

If you're interested in the GW Mega-Paint deal with the free army case and would like to save an additional $36 on it plus avoid sales tax (no tax for non-Virginia residents) Spikey Bits has the deal for you.

From http://blog.spikeybits.com/2012/03/want-new-citadel-paint-set-free.html

Leading off what I hope will be exciting Spring of new releases, are the new Games Workshop Citadel Paints.

As you have probably heard by now this is a complete re-release of the old line, as many colors have been redone, and some colors brought back from the Eye of Terror even.

The complete set encompasses a mind blowing 145 paints, broken down by base, layer, dry, shade, glaze, texture (for bases), and four technical paints.

Best of all is you can get the whole set of 145 paints, AND the large citadel miniatures carrying case from the Spikey Bits store for $499.99

We have already gotten a ton of inquires about this set, and we are happy to make it available, at a slight discount even, for a limited time only.

Best of all, at the end of the month of April, we'll giveaway a choice of any current 40k Battleforce or Fantasy Battalion box to one lucky customer (chosen at random) who purchased the complete paint set from us on the Spikey Bits Online Store.

This set includes all 145 of the new paints, which breaks down into 34 base, 70 layers, 15 dry, 12 shades, 4 glazes, 6 textures, and 4 technical paints (liquid green stuff, brush primer, matte coat, and a paint medium).

Also included is the large "Army Sized" Black Miniature case that holds 216 figures/paints. You could substitute the black army figure case for either of the holiday Green or Brown army cases, while supplies last as well.

But wait there's more...

Don't have the scratch for the whole set of paints? Hey I feel you, times are tough.

Check this out though- We'll be selling sets of the paint ranges as well as single pots of all the new paints.

Just want the new washes, or glazes? We got you! Need some Blood Red? Well it's Evil Sunz Scarlet now, but yeah, we got you just the same. Waaaaaagh!

Best of all, any Citadel paint order from Spikey Bits from now until the end of April qualifies to win a free Battleforce or Batallion per above!

So check out the list of special Spikey Bits' offerings on the new Citadel paints, and email or call us for a quote. You can reach us fast on our order hotline 804.464.1873, Monday - Friday from 10am to 10pm!

With that conversion chart (which I downloaded since I'm sure they'll remove it like they do a lot of documents/articles), I noticed they got rid of their gloss varnish... I liked hitting that on my tyranids to give them a sheen look like they are slimy/sticky.... any substitutes for this that you guys can find?
They did not get rid of it, they went back to the old name:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat800007a&prodId=prod1500292a

'Ardcoat is a Citadel Technical

'Ardcoat is a gloss varnish that has several uses. A thin layer of 'Ardcoat looks great over gemstones and lenses, giving them a shiny, reflective appearance. It is also very useful when applying transfers as it gives the transfer a smooth surface to adhere to. It is also a convenient way to protect your miniatures (because we can all be a little clumsy every now and again).
