Subject: Fuzzy rumour about changes of GW paint range

I use all kinds of paints these days,I stop using GW exclusively years ago.
I do have the complete GW range with a couple dozen Vallejo,P3 for Menoth white,Military Colors from Tamiya for airbrushing armor and aircraft,Alclad II for serious metallic work,Testors Enamel Olive Drab for armor, oil paint for weathering.
Ron from ++From the Warp+++ has excellent results using craft paint you get at Walmart/Craft store.
But I would buy much more than 2 pots of Devlin Miracle,I rip through that stuff about a pot every other month

I'd suggest going to your local fine arts store. They're neither difficult nor expensive to build yourself, but mine cost $10 and included several sheets of the paper.
easiest thing in the world, get a square sized tupperware that will hold a sponge, dampen sponge, cover sponge with piece of parchment paper(sold right next to tin foil at the market)
voila Wet Pallette ,when finished close the top to the tupperware, paint has lasted 3-4 days like this for me.
Be sure to change or microwave the sponge every week or it will get moldly and reek.

It takes 3 colors 5 if you count white and black and any home depot can do it with any paint
all colors are based off of the three primaries Red,Yellow,Blue
They just want you to switch

But if was so easy, we could switch to any other line with no problem. Even Vallejo and P3 paints that are meant to mirror GW's old paints don't always match exactly and no one had a good match for Hawk Turquoise. And now it's gone :(
The point I was trying to make is any paint manufacturer can get an exact color match I never said anything about coverage, drying, yadda yadda.
If you were just going to paint one model you can make any color with Red,Yellow,Blue even Hawk Turquoise or my favorite Scaly Green.
But when painting an army no way you could exact match, mixng paint on the fly.
But on what you said does the new range not have a Hawk Turquoise equivilant, should I be buying this up?
Just bought a crapton of Dhenb Stone and Charadon Granite

If you are airbrushing mettalics forget GW,Vallejo all them
Look into Alclad II Lacquer light years ahead of the rest.
You can litterally comb your hair in the chrome finish.
The shiney metals need gloss black undercoat, but the regular work just fine over matt black.
Priming is a Must!!! Lacquer will craze straight plastic
And these are not brushable /airbrush only.

can you varnish them or do you lose too much of the chrome finish if you do?
They also sell a clear cote and I think a Matt Varnish! I would use thier brand though.
The Matt probally would kill the shine some,Thats why I would use thier clear

The pics actually do them justice if you go to the Alclad in Action section
They have a cool fighter painted with all different shades when you click on a shade it tell you what it is
