Hulksmash, creator of this glorious thread compiling a list of all the 'major' tournament events unfortunately no longer has the time to spare to keep updating it (and actually hasn't really done so for nearly a year now!).

But I do think it is a great idea and resource, so I thought I'd throw the idea out if there is anyone out there who would be willing to put a little effort into keeping such a thing updated here on Dakka.

If you are, simply PM me, and then we'll have you go ahead and create a new thread which we'll then sticky into place at the top of this forum.

I can also send you a copy (with all the UBB codes included) for Hulk's old thread (since its locked you can't do it yourself) if you want to use any of his post as a basis to build a new one.

I hope someone has the time and inclination to tackle this, and I know it would be greatly appreciated by many!

Oh, and you can feel free to totally alter the criteria of the list a bit if you like to make it a little less work. I know Hulk had said any event with at least (I think) 30 players was acceptable...if you wanted to up this to 40 or 50 or something, that would be totally fine too!

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Last week over on the 11th Company forums I posted that I was going to update it:
http://the11thcompany.freeforums.org/gt-circuit-t3123-10.html

I started work on it, but I did not finish it.

As far as criteria goes I was going to list only 2-day GT level events and not the one day RTTs.

Without wanting to come across as just plugging my website, I'd like to plug my website, the Wargame Tournaments Website, as a solution to this issue...

Rather than someone trying to maintain a thread listing things it might be more helpful to have a sticky to my site which is a filterable list (and as it's database driven it reduces some of the upkeep you have to do manually with a sticky thread). I get a lot of listing details from Dakka threads and other forums so it's pretty comprehensive (generally the only reason events don't get listed are because it doesn't get posted up on forums in time for me to put up the details, the event is not a tournament or because I can't find sufficient info from the thread or any linked website to do the listing).

Of course there are other listings sites out there you may choose to post to instead of mine (I just happen to think mine's the best out of the ones I've come across and I'm in the middle of a gargantuan set of upgrades to make the listings more comprehensive)

So does that mean you're willing to do it?

If not, is there nobody else who is willing to do so?

That looks like a great resource indeed! I don't know if it completely replaces how handy a collection of all the major events for the year would be though. That actually may be something you want to look into actually for that page...you really can't sort to see what are the 'major' events are (those that have a certain number of spots allowed or those that are only two day events, etc).

So if I want to find out all the major 40K events in the world for the year using your resource, I basically have to sort by 40K and just sift through all the available entries to try to find the 'major' events...not exactly the most convenient, I think you'd agree!

That's something that will be possible once I finish the upgrade to the site I'm presently working on - the backend of the site is pretty much being redesigned from scratch so the site can better record tournament details which will have the end result of allowing more detailed searching for events.

The main issue at the moment is when it'll be finished - due to a combination of less time on my daily commute plus having to (at least pretend to) do my fair share of parenting duties since the birth of my daughter the amount of time I have to work on it has reduced quite drastically, so at present the ETA on the updates is "some time this year"
