My friend gave me crowe and i was really happy with him, on table top he was doing great and i even managed to slay an deamon prince and a chaos terminator lord.
Why is every one complaining about him?

Mainly because he is not an Independent Character and therefore cannot join another unit and because when enemy units charge him they get Furious Charge and re-roll on their close combat To Hit rolls.

Because Crowe is not an independent Character, one shot for anything above str 8 and he is dead and he is an easy KP.

I still think there should be a special rule to Crowe that he can join a unit of Purifiers, but that is just wishful thinking.

The better choice is a Grand Master with grand strategy, able to make D3 units scoring. Nevertheless, a Purifier spam army can still be a tough army to beat.

I personally like Crowe just because he is such an underdog. No one expects anything out of him which is why he is tactically useful.
Don't forget that he can parry and just sit there casting cleansing flame tying up a big horde of guys. He is also just a single model so you can potentially just tie up a blob and has a chance to be out of range of some hidden power fists. Even then, he still has the chance for a 4+ rerollable invul save with parry.
He is very good as a tarpit unit vs things like a big horde of guys, swarms of scarabs, and even big nasty targets if you want to sacrifice a 150 point HQ to say burn down a 250 point model of some sort.
While things may get furious charge vs crowe, I have not found this to be too deterimental as I parry alot with him even when I assault. (so much so that I tend to forget he has rerolls to hit on the charge >.<
Burn down 3-4 guys out of a mob, taking no wounds in return due to 2+/4++, and having a high I of 6 means I have a decent chance of running down units with just 1 model.
Lastly, Crowe does NOT have a power weapon (and with parry), is essentially immune to mind shackle scarabs making him much less likely to kill himself even if I did elect to go for a rapier strike or the like that turn. (unfortunately it still rends though)
And this isn't even talking about purifiers as troops.

Crowe "has" a power weapon. In fact its better than a power weapon, because it RENDS on a 4: Marginally making him better against vehicles.
If it was only a power weapon, it will only be a weapon that ignores armor saves but still needing a 4 to wound anyway.
He gets the short end of the stick against T3 models, but then again that's what the flames are for.
He is not that bad, because he is for countercharging stuff. So basically, you just hide him behind terrain and charge anything you want. Basically anything he assaults is having a very bad deal.
-Blobs? No problem he has immolation.
-Titans, walker daemon princes dreadnoughts? No problem. Enjoy getting tarpitted by a single unit due to his rerollable saves, and actually getting kaput by his martyrdom skill when he finally gets killed.
-Crowe is not tactically useless, people just dont know how to use him. The trick is not to get shot, and that is what LOS blocking terrain is for.

Its some kind of unusual rending weapon, but not a power weapon. Its indeed som kind of power weapon against MEQ, since it wounds on 4+ and is rending, so has the same effect as a power weapon.

Crowe is a lot like paying taxes in america...if you want to enjoy the freedoms then you have to pay your Taxes
No one takes Crowe because hes awesome on the table, you take Crowe so you can have purifiers as troop choices. I generally use 2 tactics with Crowe either use him to try to contest an objective or I charge him towards the biggest nastiest thing on the table and hope to kill it with heroic intervention

Crowe does wonders on the table. He just takes a bit more thought than someone running Draigo straight up field to wail on anything in his path. Jy2 does great stuff with Crowe. He has to put some effort into using him, but when he is ordered around effectively he won't get charged and he will do some damage, and if he dies in combat there is a good chance that with clever placement you can make back his kill point immediately if you take an IC down with you.

Well, last week, in an RTT, Crowe took on one of my Warwalker units and killed one when he died.

My favorite fight was when Crowe got charged by Kharn. Furious charge? meh he already has it
parried everything. screwed up and cleansing flamed when kharn was immune, then kharn chain axes crowe through his face on the following turn but crowe heroic sacrifices himself and hits with a roll of 3 due to compariable WS and since it wasn't a psychic attack since it's a buff on himself, he takes Kharn down with him.
