I was just wondering, because I am a bit confused about this rune.
It first says that it makes the weapon function as a thrown weapon, but then it says that the target it automatically hit once. So - do I actually roll to hit when I throw a weapon with this rune?

No roll to hit. So you auto-hit- with the range of a thrown weapon, quick to fire (i.e. always stand and shoot) and the ability to pick out enemy models.

If it weren't a master rune, I'd use this a lot.

Uhu... That's the big problem with it. I really hope it isn't in the dwarfs next book (though, not as much as I hope they actually get to keep the runes, considering how many magic items the other newer books have)
