Subject: What was Warhammer 40k teach you thus far?

Resolute Ultramarine Honor Guard
|
A simple question really.
Space Marines tough me about brotherhood, honor, duty and sacrifice. How it is important thing to stick to your honor and provide protection to those who cannot protect themselves.
Sister of Battle tough me that even in most dark of times - your faith can help you overcome them and prosper.
Imperial Guard tough me that even the weakest of creatures united have a strength to defeat even the most terrifying enemies.
Inquisition tough me how you must always been aware of the dangers that surrounds you. And how sometimes you must apply the most difficult choices if you want to succeed.
Orks tough me that even in darkest f times there is a place for humor . Also the surviving of the fittest, how in nature only the strongest survive.
Eldar tough me that even if you lost everything you shouldn't run and hide. But you stand up and continue fighting, even if that means your certain doom.
Dark Eldar tough me that even the proudest and prosperous of people and civilizations can fall if succumb to disorder and forbidden pleasure.
Tau tough me that even in the darkest of times there is always hope for a new beginning. To start anew and rebuild and be good to your neighbors - even if they aren't. How true unity of the people is sometimes needed for success, and how divided we all fall.
Chaos tough me how easy is for people to succumb to the darkness. To do bad deeds and to lose their souls, to betray their close ones, to butcher innocent people, to pillage, burn and much much worse.
Necrons tough me how some thing you take for granted, only to realize their importance after you lost them. How you should never put jealousy, pride and revenge ahead of reason.
Tyranids tough me the true essence of a single unified purpose. And how in terms of survival some are never asked if they agree or not.
Overall, Warhammer 4000 tough me that no matter how hard and difficult your life is - it can always be worse.
Waht about you?

Helped a lot with statistics and quick math for me. I can do a lot of simple math in my head incredibly fast as a result of having to mathhammer things out in the heat of the battle, and from building lists.
it also taught me to read Dune to figure out where like half of the nomenclature and background of 40k came from, which has been a good thing.

Space Marines: If you look cool and are badass enough, everyone will automatically assume you're a good guy and anything bad you do is for the greater good or whatever.
Chaos Space Marines: Ummm.... don't do drugs or warp magic unless you're extremely awesome, like a Primarch or Champion. Which I'm not.
Imperial Guard: If you get drafted, fake your death and flee the country/empire/planet.
Tau: Communism can work provided that you use mind-control and kill people without trials.
Sisters of Battle: Women can beat the crap out of you too you know.
Orks: As Brother Coa said, even the darkest dark of darkness there can still be humor.
Inquisition: The best way to rise up the ranks is to be a complete nutcase who constantly accuses others of being traitors and heretics.
Dark Eldar: Umm.... don't do drugs or warp magic period.
Necrons: Don't get in over your head in deals with strange, star eating gods.

I already knew proper grammar and spelling and I viciously correct people on forums all the time, and I wouldn't spend so much time on forums if it weren't for 40k! Granted I assume this topic's OP doesn't have English as a first language so I'll cut him some slack.

wow some friends and i were discussing this the other day, what a coincidence. honestly 40k isn't really a good role model,
Dark eldar: drugs and rape is cool
eldar: emotions are dangerous, don't have them
Slaanesh: give into your emotions
Tzeentch: logic is pointless in life
Khorne: murder, kill, blood!
Space marines: extensive surgery and drugs is a good thing
Inquisition: don't trust anyone
Chaos: worship cults and you become immortal
orks:thinking that something will work makes it work
these are just a few examples we came up with, so 40k has taught some interesting lessons

So far 40k has taught me that I can have a cracking weekend away with a load of other chaps and have a great time playing with models in a tournament, as well as having a laugh with other people who enjoy the hobby and spending a night or two in a state of inebriation. Reminds me of when I used to do Seaxon/Vikingr re-enactment, only there is less violence with 40k tournaments. Possibly ironic.

If I have 20 sons name them all according to personallity and spend time with all of them and ensure that none of them hate me for being a father. Simple really don't be like the Emperor as a father.
Space Marines : honor, and helping those in need, striking quickly, staying back to see the job finished, never giving up, zealousness sometimes helps out. Brotherhood is important. Defending those in need, protecting vital objectives, humantarian beliefs, seeing life as valuable. Being thankful i don't live in that universe. Being glad that I can take cover.
Imperial Guard : Guns do solve problems. Nough said.
Eldar: being like these guys don't help you in the end.
Dark Eldar: Don't rape people.
Orks: You can loot anything! You can build anything! Comedic goals in life.
Chaos: Evil people are a bunch of donkey caves.
Tau: Anime is not good anymore.
Necrons: That magnets do wonders in an robot invasion.
Daemons: there are things that haunt your dreams O.O
Inqusition: Sometimes abusing the law gets you places.
Grey Knights: That there is no such thing as a puritan knight.
Space Wolves: That space vikings are a beautiful idea.
Blood Angels: Not all vampires sparkle.
Dark Angels: That robes make you look gay apparently.
Raven Guard: Striking from the shadows is probably the best idea ever.
Black Templars: If you have superhumans why limit how many we have? That Templars are freaking awesome.
Sisters of Battle: Even women in the year 40,000 can do things that make Ash think twice before asking one out.
Tyranids: That all bugs can be squished under my boots.
Power armor: apparently you can do a backflip in it lol.
Finally
THe Imperial Navy: If you have air support and naval support you WIN any battle.
