I've recently found myself wanting to paint up a number of marine units, and thus decided to collect a 500 poiunt scouting force for a random custom chapter (fluff later, modelling first). For this reason I've decided to go for a very rough and ready looking set of marines and scouts, but with pristine gear (Warrior culture of weaponry before beautification) and well funded.

The first model I've picked up is the land speeder storm, partly because I love the model but mostly because it also provides me with 5 scouts to model out some of my conversions on before I move into anything more serious.

The first of which is below, I've taken a normal marine head and padded it out with a Nordic looking beard and long hair, I settled on greens for armour without landing on either DA or Salamanders but something lighter in the middle.



He's still a work in progress but I'd love some feedback on his head/body armour. Given that this is the first marine thing I've painted in near enough 10 years I'm thrilled with how its going.
