Ok so my friends and i have fought over this rule and i wanted to see what others think. When a model has an armor save and an invul save... or is in cover. Does it get the highest save, or both saves. It only makes sense to give both. Example: A bolter shot is fired at a terminator in 4+ cover. He SHOULD get his cover save to see if the bullet even hits him, or the cover. Then the armor save if it hits him. It only makes sense. Please comment.

Have a read of page 24, "Models with more than one save"
You're going to be disappointed.

If it wasn't so the @#$% 2+ 3++ terminators would be even more broken, especially if you parked them in cover

Bear in mind that the cover rules are written with this in mind; it's been the same way for three editions now.
If they were going to make them all apply, then a forest would probably just be a 6+, not a 4+,

Warhammer Fantasy has multiple saves, that is, you can roll different Saves, like a Magic, if failed then go to Armor and then ... whatever, (WH Fantasy players are absolutely invited to correct that if I'm wrong on the order) to save the same wound. Perhaps that is the confusion?
Not so in 40k. You pick which save *can* apply, and then pick the best of what's left. And roll once.

Fantasy does do multiple saves, but pretty much anything can modify those saves. So while characters may be taking 2 or 3 saves, they will often be no better than a 5+ each.

Cover saves also do not exist in fantasy; cover is represented by a reduction in your "to hit" chances, and you cannot (any longer) take ward (invulnerable) and regen ("FNP"), meaning at most 2 saves.

Yeah you do get a ward save as well as any armour saves you could normally take.
They're much rarer than invulnerable saves though, restricted to charectors (who have to buy them) and a few elite units.
It doesn't make sense that you can't take cover AND invulnerable. But then, not a lot in 40k does make sense.

Take the best one you are allowed. So if you are shot with AP1 and have no cover, take invul if you have it.
If you are shot with AP1 and have 5+ invul but are in cover, then you take cover save.
If you are armor 3+ and are in cover and are shot with AP 4, then you take 3+ armor.
In any case you only get one save, choose from which one you are allowed to take and take the best one.
