I have just come across the old Eye of Terror Codex from 3rd edition, and was wondering, would anyone know whether it would be possible to use the rules for the Lost and Damned in current games of 40K? Its just the book is so awesome, but all the armies have been updated since...

Also, I noticed that there have been updates of some of the units in Apocalypse datasheets on the GW website, such as the Mutants and Plague Zombies, could these be used instead?

Thanks

P.S. I wasn't sure whether this was the right place to post this question

That would be no. You could always use one of the Renegades and Heretics Armies (see IA 5-7) as it gets you close. There are mobs and some mutants in there.

The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.

You can use it, but it's not on the list of official codexes in any tournament I've seen, and some players wouldn't play you because of this.

Hmmm, Okay, well it would only be with friends anyway, so maybe I'll try mix and match. Thank you And I'll have a look at those IA books, again, thanks!

Yeah, there's nothing saying you can't still use it in friendly games... but it was never updated for 5th edition, and so will need some tweaking to bring it in line with current rules.

At a minimum it would need some tweaking with clarifying the Allies and clarification on what leaders can take as options since there's no longer a real Armoury (I'd suggest letting them take what a CSM squad champion can), as well as clarification on what can be taken from Codex: IG.

I've recently been working on a fandex taking the principle of the Eye of Terror list (core with IG/CSM/Daemons add ons) updated to recent books, with some extra bits. If you're interested, it can be found at http://www.box.com/s/x4bcs2zc4h9qiha67nab

There are a number of other LatD fandexes out there that a little googling will uncover. Beware the corrupting influence of all these tomes...

Any solution will require a pretty friendly group, and discussion about it. Good luck!

I love the LatD. Evil Guard are just so damned cool. What I ended up doing was making my Guard army nice and evil looking, and play them as per the Guard dex.

Closest current army list is the IA Renegades and Heretics which you can download here:
