Just curious about a game last night, I don't have my codex on me so I was just wondering if you guys could clear this up so I can get it out of my head lol...
Last night Anrakyr's barge was killed in shooting by a landraider so he dropped on his feet where another squad promptly assaulted him and cut him down. Naturally, being a jerk, he stood back up at the end of the reanimation protocols. My opponent didnt want to consolidate so his berzerkers stood right there as Anrakyr shook his head from the headache and stood back up.
We both agreed that they weren't considered in close combat...
Is that correct? Or if you get back up with everliving after an assault gone bad for the necrons, you are locked into that combat again?
Our reasoning for saying "no" was - you place the counter down for where Anrakyr was and he is removed, also the berzerkers could have consolidated and just walked away.
But then I started thinking today, they had him surrounded , and i BELIEVE the rule says, you deploy him 2" away from the enemy (forgot about that last night, I just kept standing him back up where he had fallen, so my bad there) - if he is surrounded and dies, and then passes his everliving roll, would i put him 2" outside of that "beat down circle" or is he removed as a casualty?
Thanks again guys, like I said , don't have the codex on me and these questions are eating me alive.

Has to be within 3" of the counter for everliving. If you can't do it because of Opposing models/impassable terrain I would say he doesn't come back, and 1" from enemy models.
Edited in that last part.

You only return to combat if the unit the model is in is still locked in combat. Anrakyr's unit was dead; definitely not in combat any more, so he would not return to combat.

Wow, so , unknowingly, my buddy did the smartest thing by not consolidating and just standing over his body!
Crazy! Guess that's like the trick of surrounding a vehicle while you pop it and cover the exit hatches.

Pretty sure you dont have to move at all if you dont want too... also if you roll d6, and you get a 6, you can still decide to only move 1" if you so well please.
