So there are a lot of books dedicated to Marines, Guard, Chaos, and even a few about Eldar and Dark Eldar.....are there any books written about Orks? Not where some Marine Chapter will galently save the day from the Orkish horde, but a series where the Orks are the main story line instead of the supporting enemy?

Side note: What books feature them in general?

The book "Imperial Glory" has a large portion of the book being about orks. It shows how an ork rises to the rank of warboss in a tribe of feral orks. Its an ok read.

I haven't read it but "Fear the Alien" is supposed to have a short story about orks.

Other than that they're just the bad guys. It would take a really good author to make an all ork book readable with all the orkyness.

Yeah, Imperial Glory doesn't just have a portion about orks, tells it from the orks' point of view. And the story in Fear the Alien is pretty good.

Some of the books where it's Guard v Orks, or Marines v Orks really give you a good look at orks. We joke about orks a lot and find them funny and cute and all that but these books, like Hellsreach, really show how fearsome and terrifying the ork army is. For me, it really brings it home.

I'm hoping that the Eldar books are a sign that they're really branching out into books told about the other races. I'm die-hard Imperial player but I like there to be stuff out there so my friends can enjoy the books who play other races as much s me.

The sole answer is in the post right above mine. Deff Skwadron owns.

So, after reading that link to the other thread it leaves open the opportunity to write instead of just read. Interesting.....

I'll pick up those other books first and go from there as far as developing back stories and an understanding of behavior. Blank slate can be cool as long as you don't go too far, but make sure to go far enough. Make sense?

I mean you don't want to over sell the idea of the Orks broken language or overall chaotic behavior and lose the audience due to drastically unrealistic behavior.

But ... that's the most orky thing about the Orks!

And yes, Deff Skwadron ftw.

Sure, but you don't want to make it so bad that noone can understand what the heck is being said.

^ Trainspotting, The Ticket That Exploded, Finnegans Wake… all have fans despite their seeming incomprehensibility.
