I'm a new eldar player, and I've read a number of articles about troop composition and lists. I went out and bought a number of models that I like, also finding some deals on things I could strip online. What I currently have now is...

Farseer
3 warlocks

15 Dire avengers (2 exarchs)

1 War walker
1 wave serpent

6 striking scorpions (1 exarch)
karandras

about 20 guardian defenders with one platform

My question is, where should I proceed from here? I don't need to use every model, especially knowing how karandras is overpriced. I don't need to be super competitive, but I don't want to get trashed either.

Things that look appealing to me include maybe creating a seer council for my farseer, adding a wraithlord, adding fire dragons, adding a falcon(maybe to carry the dragons or council?), the new night spinner looks excellent, perhaps a squad of reapers, though it seems tanks are better atm.

Which way should I go, what should I be building on going forward? What should my next purchase or two be?

Thank you for any feedback!

I hear that squadrons of war walkers are good - piles of S6 shooting sound alright to me!

I'm still starting out on Eldar though... Others will have more information I am sure.

Good luck to you!

Get another 2 War walkers (and decide what role you want them to do - anti-infantry or Anti-armour.)

Even marines are afraid of scatter lasers. They might be low on AP, but they have a good chance of putting a lot of wounds (the more wounds, the higher chance that they will fail enough of them) on that squad and they have range.

Fire Dragons and a falcon are also good choices.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

The wraithlord is a nice model and a powerful unit.

I absolutely concur on the war walkers, since you can 3 in a squadron they are invaluable.

I like reapers. They put out a lot of fire and also draw fire like nobody's business!

If you're going to use guardians (and I do they are good value for my money) give that unit a warlock.

I personally really like vypers, they are very cheap and can carry scatter lasers, also people tend to underestimate them so don't bother shooting them! Jetbikes are handy but expensive in $/£ terms to buy.

For my money all the Eldar units are useful, personally my Eldar army is made up of almost every troop type (except the artillery batteries and warp spiders). I tailor my army to whatever I am fighting, so banshees against marines, scorpions against nids, etc. The only unit I have which I genuinely think is worthless and not worth bothering with are shining spears, they just do not carry enough threat and are a lot of points for a unit that has to close but is also incredibly easy to kill in cc. That or they have to lurk behind cover and finally launch a counter-attack late in the battle.
