Heavy Bolter Sponsons
Total-170
Leman Russ Battle Tank-150
Heavy Bolter Sponsons
Total-170
Demolisher-165
Lascannon
Total 180
My main strategy here is to have the two IS squad and HWS hang back with the ccs that does not have krak grenades to take potshots at enemy units and contest objectives. The CCS buffing the heavy weapons teams and keeping everyone from running. I would have the Two vanilla russes also providing fire support nearby. Finally I would have the three metla Veteran squads blazing forward in the Valkyries dropping rockets and lasers tell they reach their objective. I went for a flamer as opposed to a third melta gun to provide the vets with some troop killing powers. I would use the PCS and other CCS to buff/ counter flame anyone who attacked my veterans. Finally I would have the demolisher crusing forward with the two Chimeras for some psychological fear to direct fire from the Valkyries.Oh and Marbo is in there for flavor and the occasional birthday surprise demo charge!
Thoughts and criticisms would be greatly appreciated
P.S Should I ditch the valks and go for all chimeras if so why?

Welcome to Dakka!
Just a few brief notes.
Don't waste CCS's BS 4 on flamers. Plasma/Melta.
You lose a Special weapon when you pick the standard for the CCS/PCS.
Your points totals are of on your Valks.
Edit:
Can't spell.

The regimental standard takes one of the spots for a special weapon in the CCS's.
Most would not advise mixing special weapons int he vet squads.
Also the GL's, although I personally use them, they are not the best options.

Ok so I fixed the little errors with points and such. So why melta and plasma over flamers? Have you found it to be more versatile? I personally play orks predominately so I find the flamers to be invaluable. However I can see how against say marines they would not hold much value. My thoughts for the ccs and pcs is a punchy little counter unit. Would you say the plas and melta changes that role to Meq killers?
Also what do you recommend in place of GL's and why?

You're trying to be versatile, when the IG are cheap enough to specialize.
If that Vet sqd. goes up against a tank, you may need that 3rd shot to kill it. Or a MC.
If you want flamers, put them on your Chimera, PCS or PIS. If the troop you give it to
has a BS of 4, you've wasted a slot a Plasma or Melta could hit with better odds. Automatically Appended Next Post: If the it's in a PIS, GL are alright. they just don't seem to be the best at either shot.
It's either a lasgun with a blast, or a Multilaser shot. If the same model had a flamer, they
aren't going to miss having bs 3. they may not kill what they hit, but you atleast hit it. GL
are tied for 3rd with the flamer for me.
Don't get me stared on the Sniper rifle....

You have a good point. I think will run all meltas in my vet squads and the forward ccs. Can't decided what to do with my back ccs. Thinking regiment and no weapons. I think I will need to play test to see how much action that particular unit see's

Don't waste special weapon slots, as they are the backbone of IG lists... you get more than any one else, don't give away the advantage.
Ditch the Krak grenades. Thos points could be spent to get a Commissar for your PIS, which should be blobed together BTW. Power weapons give you some survivability if your assaulted (now you ignore armor and can do some damage back against most troops).
I do not like 'suicide Vets'. The typical goal is to go Flat out, Grav Chute Insert the Vets (and hope they don't die), and melta gun to death some scary vehicle, then watch everything die your opponent's next turn. To me, I rather have Vendettas for long range AT, with a PCS or SWS all decked out with Flamers. Then late game, run out and capture empty objectives (or contest) or burn out cover save based troops and take it.
To be honest, you have Green Tide to much on the mind. There are 7-9 Codexes out there that are power armor based. You /have/ to use Marines as the benchmark...
If your worried about Hoard, that is what your heavy slots are for. Speaking of which, drop the LC and the sponsons. Use the points to upgrade your LRBTs to something like all Demolishers. I personally like the hull HB, but alot of folk like to swap it for a Heavy Flamer.
If you want to keep the Vets, put those in the Chimeras (with hull heavy flamers) with plasma or melta guns. Use them to support the LRBTs, using your Vendettas and other heavy weapons as covering fire.
If you want a CCS to support your Platoon, take them out of the Chimera and give it to a Vet squad. Give them Camo Cloaks, a Standard, and either 3x Plasma guns or a Plasma gun and a LC.
If you really want to make your HWSs stick around and make it easier for Orders, get a Lord Commissar as your second HQ slot and read his 'Aura of Discipline'. Effectivily, he gives every unit within 6" of him Ld 10 for Morale and Pinning checks and for Orders. You can even give him a Camo cloak to give him a 3+ cover save, because your HWSs and the like should be in cover.
Now, if your thinking 'Why not put him in the blob and not buy the Commissar for it?' Well, the Lord is a IC,w hich means in close combat he /can/ be picked out. But if he has a Camo Cloak, he does give the entire blob 3+ cover saves if at least 50% of them are in cover (well, 4+ base cover obviously). You can do it, but it really is not the best solution... but it is the cheaper solution.
I hope this helps....
