Hi all,

Just a quick intro about myself, after having a horrible painting experience with a space marine starter set when i was 8 i decided the hobby wasn't for me. Fast forward 15 years later I'm now 23 and decided to give this another shot.

I still remember how awesome terminators used to look so i plan on building a complete first company, also because i love how the white helmets goes with the blue armor.

I haven't pick up a paint brush since i was 8 years old so this was pretty intimidating to me ,but i was determine to do it this time. After watching as much video as i could on youtube and reading as much tips as i could i went out and bought a box of terminator , couple of paints and a whole bunch of brush.

I decided to start a blog here to keep track of my work and hopefully maybe a few people would give me some much needed criticism and tips i need to improve my painting.

Sorry for the bad quality pictures my camera battery isn't charging so these were taken with a phone, i will upload new better quality pictures as soon as possible.

These are the first group of Terminators i finish on 01/02/2012





I have no idea what i was thinking when i made this guy, i just started looking at different space marine model and saw the sanguinary guards and thought the armor look pretty nice. Then i saw the Grey Knights Terminator and fell in love with how they look and decided to make this guy. WIP still 01/08/2012






I'm pretty happy with how he's turning out, not sure if anyone would agree tho

I still have another 4 of those sanguinary terminator things and 5 assault terminators to paint, hopefully i can pick up some second hand terminators to learn some new techniques on and improve my painting skill by ALOT. Right now I'm just trying to paint as much as i can and get just the basics down.

You've got the basics down, that's for sure.

I like the gk/ba terminator as well, but the only model I see him being legally used to represent would be a captain in artificer armor with a jump pack, packing a stormshield +a relic blade.

My advice is to pick another technique to learn, and apply it to your miniatures. There are LOTS of highlighting techniques you can use to improve your guys (drybrush, layering, wet blending, airbrushing, etc)

Just pick one, and stick with it till you master it, and learn another. You can get very respectable results with even humble drybrushing if you master it.

You have the basics, you have just shown that very well. You can paint base coats good, you can paint white which alot people can't, you can wash, You can paint power weapons which alot people can't. So for first 6 models in 8 years you have done the best you could of possibley done.

Now all you need to do is highlight them.

Also build a list, a good one so your not just buying expensive models to learn how to highlight. you can practise that on the modles in your list or some cheapo models like some guards men or guardians or something like that.
