Hey, I don't have a set list atm. I'm thinking of joining the people with vet spam lists. So here it goes.

CCS- 4x plasma guns, chimera 165

vetran squad- 3x melta, chimera 155

veteran squad- 3x melta, chimera 155

veteran squad- 3x melta, chimera 155

veteran squad- 3x melta, chimera 155

2x hydra 150

2x manticore 320

Now I have 245 points left over if I am correct, used a calculator.

Also what to have on the chimeras as the weapons?

Give the chimeras a hull HF and keep the multilaser. Odds are you will be moving so shooting both will be rare. Only changes I would make would be manticores instead of the colossus and medusas.

I completely agree, use manticores or vendettas instead.

I don't have the Dex in front of me, but if I remember correctly, Collossus are 140 points each. Meaning a squad of two without any upgrades (like enclosed crew compartment) would come out to 280.

In addition, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Medusas are 160 each.

To answer your question, and to reiterate what Akroma06 said; definitely have Multi-Laser and Hull Heavy Flamer on your Chimeras. Mostly because your Vets inside have Meltas, and are very close range AT, the HHF is a good choice for anti-hoard (or infantry of any kind really) as you'll be close up anyway. Also, 18 STR 6 shots a turn while your advancing is nothing to laugh at.

Another option is to run LRBTs instead of the Medusas and Collossi. That would give you a much stronger advance, and would allow you to put some AV 14 on the board. Just a thought, Collossi are also great at what they do. Only problem is they have the AV of a Chimera, and are flimsy. People usually have to protect them with blobs of infantry, from Deep Strikers and Out Flanking units and whatnot.

I know manticores are good and all, but the idea of the colossus's was to wipe their objective clean so I can take that objective or contest it whatever. Then the medusa's were going to be used for close to mid range support for the vets or defending the other artillery pieces if deepstrikers come in.

Why are you spamming two identical threads?

Your first list is at 1700pts, so dropping something useful like a troop choice will not cut it.

Don't post a list till you have a codex handy so you can do it right. Get a calculator to double check your math.

Points are wrong. Medusas at 100pts each including the enclosed compartment? Colossus' at 105pts? I wish.

Basically what BlkTom said above. In his words. Do everyone a favour and check the math and point costs.

As for the list itself, you have so much melta that you should switch one or two vet squads into plasma vets. Colossus' are meh because they're so niche and take up a slot for more useful heavy slots. I don't like medusas myself because they're only direct fire and fragile being open topped (or expensive to make them not).

*Edit* You ninja'd me with that edit. I'll come back later. Manticore are good. Find 15pts and get either two hellhounds or two vendettas.

Well, I am making all the vehicles with plasticard and I have nearly completed the first chimera. Compared to a bought plastic one it is the same size and it looks the exactly the same exact I haven't done the details on the side yet. It has taken me about 10 hours to do but it is my first time ever working with plasticard so the first 5 hours were all massive mistakes and stuff. So the reason for me saying that is I can't get templates for vendettas. Only all the chimera chassis vehicles and the russes. Will check the website again to see if I am right.

Looks like a pretty good list, i like the 2 manticores at 1500 that's fun, the vendetta or a couple devil dogs would be a good idea just to give your self a little mobility even if there is no one inside it. But if you decide since you are building the tanks from scratch maybe a infantry platoon with the PCS having max special weapons and spamming IS with plasma pistol and melta gun would be alot more chimera swarm effective this way your eggs are not in a couple chimeras baskets. I have been playing a list really close to this and im not sold 100% yet. Every game i play i find that out.... The vets are nice and deal the damage to wreak gak but for bigger games i would go numbers of chimeras over the number of special weapons if a solid choice. But the list looks good i see you have made the correct changes. But i have to agree with you, blktom was a little rude and didn't really give you any helpful advice here he was just tread rating again.... it happens and just for the record even if you post a list and its way off on points that's really the persons your playing problem, we are here to give advice, thoughts and helpful tips not to just rag on each other because you picked up a new army and you didn't know the points exactly.... that's just stupid. Have fun with the scratch build army let me know how it dose and maybe a few pics would be cool :-)

Yeh I'll keep that in mind and this isn't a new army, I've played guard for over a year now. I just messed up with the maths in my head, as it was 2 in the morning.
