i believe this around 1000 points. The guy i am playing with is getting a dooms day ark and a monolith next.
I think i shoould get an honor guard squad then marenus calgar then a land raider redeemer then a drop pod for another 500 points.Or just a land raider redeemer for another 250 points. a

All of your tac squads should have 10 guys. You can combat squad them once you deploy. I'm not too experienced with 40k as I'm fairly new as well, but what I can tell you is this: repetition is nice. Just having one of each isn't good enough because what if it misses and then dies. Now what are you going to do? Look up some tactics for each of your choices and read up on what they do best and how they can support your army. Then, play a lot of games. That's the best way to discover what units to take and how to use them. Losing does sting but I've learned a lot from all those stings. Happy gaming.

I can tell you what I have been told both here and by experienced players at my local store.

Assault marines are not as competitive as they used to be, so unless you are playing as a Blood Angel, leave them on the shelf.

Plas pistols are not really worth the points in the current meta game

Are you taking normal shooty terminators or are you taking close combat?

Like Greyhem said you want all of your tac squads to have 10 marines in them so they can be split into combat squads if needed.

Also in regards to the drop pod, from my understanding you want to have at least 3 drop pods if you use them in a list to take advantage of the drop pod assault rule.

Hope some of this helps.
